Energy

Answer briefly.

1. What is energy?

- Energy is a property of objects which can be transferred to other objects or converted into
different forms.
2. What are the types of energy? Explain each.
- Kinetic energy- it is an energy which an object has due to its motion in a straight line from
one place to another. It is also known as the energy of motion, in order for something to
have kinetic energy, you must “do work” on it wither push or pull.
Potential energy- it is an energy stored within an object, it is not in motion but it is capable
of becoming active.
3. How is energy transferred by conduction?
-by direct contact, the transfer occurs when molecules hit against each other.
4. What is convection?
-it is the transfer of heat by the movement of a fluid between areas of different temperature.
5. How is heat transferred by radiation?
- through space by electromagnetic radiation.
6. What is the difference between temperature and thermal energy?
-Temperature measures the average kinetic energy of the particles in a substance, while
thermal energy measures the total kinetic energy of the particles in a substance.
7. Name good conductors of electricity.
-copper, silver, aluminum, gold, steel, brass, platinum, aluminum
