United as One
This happened after the first hard lockdown because of the COVID-
19 last year around August 2020 when I was visiting my grandmother in
brgy. 91 Tondo, Manila although we visit her, we always make sure to
practice the proper hygiene and guidelines to also ensure her safety.
Whenever we visited her during those time to see how she’s doing, there’s
always food and even milk that is suitable for a senior citizen. The food
assistance continued up until now and the food that they gave was in good
condition and consumable. The barangay also makes sure that they were
able to give the senior citizens their money assistance and they even
deliver it in our house one time to ensure the health of my grandmother.
In addition, they strictly follow the curfew hours and there’s a police or
people from barangay who check if there are still people in the street
during those hours. It is exceptional that once were a busy street suddenly
became quiet because of the people’s compliance with the government.

Manila is led by Mayor Isko Moreno and our punong barangay

Antonio D. Asilo, I do think that because of the good governance of Mayor
Isko where he was able to serve and discipline the people in Manila that
also influenced his subordinate. Ever since Mayor Isko became the father
of Manila, a lot of improvement happened specially in cleanliness,
discipline of people, and the organization of the barangays. In my opinion,
this kind of treatment and governance is what we need particularly during
this time of pandemic where we need consistency in the implementation,
organize plan, and a disciplinarian government. Comparing to where I
currently live, the way Mayor Isko and his barangays deal with COVID-19
was way better because they strictly implement the protocols and
guidelines. His focus was to served his people and his town in order to
give them the assurance of safety at the present moment where it is
currently full of fear was remarkable. That is also why the people of Manila
trusted him and that is what we need today, for us to be united as one as
we deal with the COVID-19.
