MISSION EXPOSURE ACTIVITY

1. What specific needs of our dialogue partners do I see?

As I watched the video provided for the feeding program conducted, I could see the
specific need of our dialogue partners—basic sustenance and nutrition. It was
heartbreaking to see individuals and families living in such harsh conditions, struggling
to meet their basic needs. The individuals shown in the video may have also lacked
access to other basic needs such as healthcare, education, and adequate housing.
Although I wasn't able to witness this firsthand, it still made me appreciate the privileges
I have and motivated me to do what I can to help those in need.

2. How do I feel seeing their condition? Why?

Seeing the conditions that our dialogue partners were living in was a humbling and
emotional experience. It was difficult to see individuals and families struggling to make
ends meet and lacking access to basic needs like food and shelter. As I was watching the
video, I couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness and empathy for these people. I couldn't
imagine how difficult it must be to live in such harsh conditions, with little hope of
improvement. Despite the difficult emotions it brought up, sponsoring for the feeding
program also gave me a sense of purpose and fulfillment in being able to help those in
need.

3. What may be the root cause of their poor situation?

Reflecting on the root cause of their poverty and marginalization, it became clear to me
that it is a complex issue with no easy solutions. Their poor situation could be attributed
to a lack of access to resources, opportunities, and education. This is in line with the
various factors that contribute to poverty, such as a lack of access to education and
employment opportunities, systemic discrimination based on race, gender, or
socioeconomic status, inadequate government policies, or other factors that perpetuate
poverty and marginalization. It was disheartening to realize that the issue is deeply rooted
in our societal systems and structures. However, it also gave me a sense of determination
to work towards change, even if it is a slow and gradual process.

4. What interventions may be done in order to address the problem?

I realized that addressing poverty and inequality requires a multifaceted approach.

Providing access to basic necessities like food, water, and healthcare is a good start, but it
is only addressing the immediate needs of those experiencing poverty. To create
long-term systemic change, policy changes at the local and national level are necessary.
This can include addressing systemic inequalities and injustices, promoting education,
and job opportunities. Additionally, community-based interventions that promote
empathy, understanding, and connection between people from different backgrounds can
help to break down barriers and create a more inclusive and supportive society. Despite
the challenges ahead, being a part of the feeding program has inspired me to continue to
take action towards creating a more just and equitable world.
