2. Accomplishment Instructions

A. At overhaul, modify the Assembly of Front Compressor Rotor and

Stator, Part No. 464181 or 513833, as follows:

(1) Replace the Front Accessory Drives Gearshaft, Part No. 439653,
with new Gearshaft, Part No. 484708. The new Gearshaft, Part No. 484708,
incorporates oil holes forward through the conical surface instead of
radially through the wall of the larger diameter.

B. Interchangeability. (See Figure 1.)

(1) The new gearshaft may be used with any existing front hub.
Earlier Front Compressor Front Hubs, Part No. 491201, 496501, and 515201
incorporate radial oil holes used in conjunction with the old gearshaft.
The Front Compressor Front Hub, Part No. 504101, has these oil holes
omitted. The old Gearshaft, Part No. 439653, must not be used with the
later Hub, Part No. 504101.

(2) The new gearshaft may be used with any existing bearing retain-
ing nut. Earlier Nuts, Part No. 453382, 496525, and 496529, incorporate
radial oil holes used in conjunction with the oil holes in the old gear-
shaft. The later Nuts, Part No. 503925, and 518795, have these oil holes
omitted. The old Gearshaft, Part No. 439653, must not be used with new
Nut, Part No. 503925 or 518795. It should be noted that Nuts, Part No.
453382, 496529, and 518795 are thick, for use with the earlier Bearing
(thin), Part No. 452336 or 452337. Nuts, Part No. 496525 and 503925,
are thin, for use with later Bearing, (thick) Part No. 496527 or 496528.

NOTE

Reference to thick and thin nuts does not

necessarily refer to overall width of nuts,
but rather to their use with thin and thick
bearings respectively. The determining
factor for use of a nut with a thick or thin
bearing is the dimension from the rear edge
of the nut to the center of the nut rivet
hole. Nuts having a dimension of 0.237 inch
are referred to as thin, and nuts having a
dimension of 0.267 inch are referred to as
thick.
