DIGITAL STEM CHALLENGE


March is here and so is Women’s moth devoted to celebrating the achievements of women and seeking gender
equality. 2023 campaign theme is #EmbraceEquity- while the United Nationals ‘theme is “DigitALL: Innovation
and technology for gender equality.”

OWSD-Rwanda National Chapter will celebrate young female who are ‘creating a better tomorrow through
creativity and problem-solving based on technology and digital’. Thus, the OWSD- Rwanda National Chapter kindly
invite the undergraduate students to submit their proposals which focused on the overarching theme “Technology
stewardship and innovation ideas as a solution for a better future”. For this competition, student will design,
analyze, and optimize her idea and how it has impact to the community.

The first three winners can win rewarding technology materials sponsored by Africa Hub- Coventy.

Interested participants must submit their entries on or before 26th February 2023 Mid-Night

Eligibility and Suitability/ Competition Mechanics

Students from STEM disciplines


Participants must be currently enrolled (at the time of submission) in the following university or college
and have an ID student
1. University of Rwanda
2. Carnegie Mellon University
3. AIMS-Rwanda
4. Kigali Independent University
5. University of Kigali
6. Mount Kenya
7. IPRC-Kicukiro
8. Adventist University of Central Africa
9. University of Tourism Technology and Business Studies

The work accepted should be designated to attend IWD 2023, 11th March 2023
Advance understanding in your field
Develop methodologies, conceptual frameworks, tools, or techniques that could benefit global issues-
related to innovative ideas
An individual project
Only one essay submission per project will be accepted

During the event, there will be a presentation of project to a panel of judges, and they will give an oral
presentation on the work as part of competition, A panel of judges will evaluate their knowledge of problems
to be solved, innovative ideas, their contribution to the field and the quality of the presentation.

How to apply

Please send your submission by email to owsdncRwanda@gmail.com a proposal containing your name, email
address and institutional affiliation along with a copy of student ID, proposed project title, essay 2,000-words
presenting your innovative idea, an abstract of the idea contents (max 400 words) and the problem solved.
Accepted supports should fit an on-screen presentation.

The proposals will be judged by a distinguished panel of volunteer experts. The semi-finalist will be notified on 3rd
March 2023.
