Time Allotment: 1 hour

Performance Standards:  The learners shall be able to participate in decision making on where

build  structures based on knowledge of the location of active faults in the community; and

make an emergency plan and prepare an emergency kit for use at home and in school.

Learning Competencies and Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:


1. Explain what is fault and how it is formed;

2. Make a model of the formation of fault; and

3. Show the precautionary measures when you are living in areas near faults through role playing.

ELICIT MATERIALS

 The students will be asked to reveal the hidden  

terms through crashing the aliens. The aliens are letter x,y and z. Flash cards

ENGAGE

The class will be divided into 5 groups.   ruler, newspaper, scissor

Activity : A fault-y set up fine sand, two sheets of cardboard


After performing the activity, the students will be able to:
1. Describe the appearance of fault ; and  
2. Explain how fault forms.

The teacher will call one representative from each    

group to share the group’s answer to the questions in the activity. manila paper
After all the groups have shared their answer, the teacher will do the
 
processing of the activity.
EXPLAIN

After all groups presented the teacher will give an     Powerpoint presentation

additional inputs to the class for better understanding of the  

subject matter.

The video shows an event happens in residential areas near  

fault line. It is shown in the video how a house is displaced by a fault rupture.  

EVALUATE

Through a role playing, show the precautionary measures  Criteria: Content - 8 pts.

When you are living in areas near faults. The students will be   20 points Relevance- 7 pts.

given 5 minutes to prepare a 3-minutes role play.    Team work- 5 pts.


EXTEND

Activity: One whole bond paper: Draw the fault model that   Bond paper,pencil

 you have made in the first activity and explain what is fault.
