I am writing to apply for the assistant procurement officer position at Nairobi Hospital
following the advertisement on LinkedIn. I have pursued a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics,
majoring in a degree in Actuarial Science at the University of Nairobi. With my Actuarial Science
coursework and project experience, my innovative mindset and affinity for problem-solving,
and my history of successful team projects, I believe I am a strong candidate for this role.

As an undergraduate, I managed to balance a rigorous course load and a number of

extracurricular activities that allowed me to enhance my skills relevant to this role. Specific to
Actuarial Science, through my academic project work, I developed abilities in content analysis,
and an understanding of various mathematical models, and have practiced the application of
these models. For example, in my Time Series Analysis course, I along with three teammates did
a content analysis on the health status of the western county. We also did a project on a
comparison between conventional insurance and Islamic insurance, whereby we were able to
apply mathematical plus actuarial models to come up with formulas for determining premiums
and getting solutions on factors affecting Islamic insurance. I have also developed a strong
interpersonal and communication skills required to succeed as an assistant procurement
officer; in addition to academic team projects that require collaboration and strong writing and
presentation skills, I have been selected by my peers for a leadership role within various
projects that we have done. Throughout all of my experiences, I have used my dedication to
efficient and creative problem solving and my ability to prioritize and manage competing
demands to positive ends. I am extremely eager to apply my knowledge and skills at Nairobi
Hospital .
