Session 1 – The DepEd’s Mandate

As a newly hired teacher in DepEd, what can you contribute to:

a. promotes quality education?

As a newly hired teacher in DepEd, I can promote quality education by continuing my professional
development by enrolling in a masteral classes, attending seminars, workshops and any
educational refresher course. I will use varied instructional methods for me to address the needs of
the learner. I will employ activities that can enhance and mold learners to be active, give them the
chance to share their ideas to make learnings more meaningful.

b. uphold equity in education?

I can uphold equity in education by giving equal opportunity among learners regardless of their
culture, gender, religion, and status of living. I will provide them with an activity which is
differentiated in instruction to cater learners multiple intelligence and their different learning styles.
I will let them participate in crafting classroom rules and regulations so that they will fully feel that
they are part of the class.

c. respond to the needs of the learners?

To effectively respond to the needs of the learners, I need to take their shoe first before sharing my
thoughts and ideas. I will determine their weaknesses and strength for a better understanding and
appropriate in giving responds. I will consistently monitor my learners progress and provide them
proper intervention.

Session 2: Vision, Mission, and Core Values

As a new public-school teacher, what are your visions for yourself, for your class, and your school
community?

Self: As a new public-school teacher, my vison is to be a teacher who will encourage my learners to
always enjoy learning. I need to motivate my learners and let them engage to an activity wherein it
is learner-centered and let them discover the meaning of their life through education.

Class: My vision for my class is to have a class who are motivated to learn and there is a collaboration among
all learners. I want to create a classroom that is conducive for learning and promote the love of learning. Mold
individuals that are globally competent and integrated with good values.

School Community: My vision to my school community is to have an atmosphere that is supportive to the
needs of the learners , teachers and the school as a whole. A community that has a strong leadership to help
the school in providing quality education. I believe that once the school and the community are in good terms,
the school can have the full support from the community. The school may benefits projects that are given
from the community.

Key Topic 1: DepEd’s Vision

Vision

We dream of Filipinos who passionately love their country and whose values and
competencies enable them to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to building the
nation.
As a learner-centered public institution, the Department of Education continuously improves
itself to better serve its stakeholders.

Scenario 1:

Teacher Johanna is a Grade 7 teacher at Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial National High School. She
encourages her learners to demonstrate their love of country through practicing acts of kindness
inside and outside the school premises.

may educate her learners on how to be kind to others to integrate the love of nation
into her lesson through practicing deeds of kindness. This might entail sharing of meals,
lending a hand to teachers, friends, classmates, and to others. Another way of integrating
this is through giving classroom activities that will develop their behavior, just like a
roleplay where they will be assign to perform a scenario that shows the importance of
doing kindness to others.
