2021 experience

In the year 2021, when I was grade 11, I took Food Processing as my major because I expected it to be
easy because it’s just cooking food and we where in the middle of the pandemic so our mode of learning
was Modular classes, Modular classes is a self-paced learning and independent study so I taught I could
just relax while taking my time but one of the primary issues of modular learning was the lack of real-
time interaction. Unlike traditional classroom, where teachers were available to answer questions and
provide immediate guidance, modular classes relied heavily of self-reliance. This lack of direct teacher
support sometimes resulted in confusion or misunderstanding when faced with complex and difficult
topics especially when it comes to mathematics but fortunately, we have YouTube and I could just search
on how to solve the problem. Grade 11, we didn’t really do anything on our major I thought that we
needed to cook as a project or assignment but our adviser really didn’t say anything about that so I was
relieved because it was dangerous going to the market and get the ingredients as at that time we were in
the middle of the pandemic.

2022 experience

In the year 2022, as the world gradually emerged from the pandemic, I was excited for the class 2022-
2023 it brought me a sense of excitement and anticipation as a student returning to the traditional
classroom settings with a few changes such as for the first few weeks we were given a class schedule,
and choosing to pursue the food processing strand, I had high expectation for the knowledge, skills, and
experiences that awaited me. I envisioned about understanding food science, practical skills
development, and exposure to industry standards. And as I go to school I learned about different kinds of
food, fermentation method, cooking method, cooking techniques, and how to store them correctly, it
was difficult to learn because you need to know every steps but fortunately I have a teacher that was
willing to lend a helping hand whenever I forget about something and teach us how to do it properly
