Certificate of Structural Design Adequacy

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Perimeter B-Class and A-Class Hoarding Access Scaffold - Layher

Ross Engineers hereby certify that we have reviewed the scaffolding design drawings provided by Scaffold
Studio as follows:

• Drawing no. 3870 Issue B pages 1 to 11 dated 06/03/2023

For the purpose of certifying the scaffold design.

Design Wind Speed

• Scaffolding, design life construction - design wind speed: 41 m/s

Scaffold Details

• Scaffold Height: 26 m to top working platform


• Access Scaffold duty Rating: Medium duty 450 kg/bay, 1 working platform
• B Class Hoarding duty rating: 10 kPA overhead protection
• Unfactored foundation leg load for project engineer to approve: 27.18 kN
• To be erected as modular scaffold in accordance with AS 4576 – Guidelines for Scaffolding
• Maximum lift height: 2 m
• Maximum bay length: 2.57 m
• The scaffold will be clad with high permeability shade cloth (120GPSM)
• Façade braced in every elevation, one set per three bays
• Reinforcing standard to be attached to main scaffold standard at maximum 1 m centres with CC clips
as per abovementioned drawing for B Class Hoarding bay
• Transom truss to be installed in both directions for B Class Hoarding bay
• Project Engineer is responsible for ensuring the relevant surfaces are capable of supporting the
imposed loads of the scaffold self-weight and live loads

Ties

• Tie locations as per abovementioned scaffold plans


• M12 x 100 screw anchor into existing concrete slab
• Screw Anchors – must be able to support minimum loading of 6 kN in both direction of load
• Tied in accordance with AS 4576 – Guidelines for Scaffolding. Tie tubes may be connected only to
the inner face of the scaffold

Stretcher Stair

• Scaffold Height: 26 m to top access deck


• Duty Rating: 2.5 kPa per level over a maximum of 5 access decks
• Unfactored foundation leg load for project engineer to approve: 22.7 kN
• To be erected as modular scaffold in accordance with AS 4576 – Guidelines for Scaffolding
• Maximum lift height: 2 m
• Maximum bay length: 2.57 m
• The scaffold will be fully or partially clad with 30% chain wire and shade cloth (120GPSM)

Scaffold Conditions and Limitations

• The project engineer is responsible for ensuring the relevant surfaces are capable of supporting the
imposed loads of the scaffold self-weight and live loads.
• It is recommended the project manager, implements site controls such as:
1. Onsite management plan for emergency procedures is in place and check operation of wind
speed monitoring instruments.
2. Onsite wind monitoring plan in place, incorporating wind action levels and procedures for
evacuation the structure if design wind speeds are in danger of being exceeded.
3. Wind speeds and recommended actions are provided below for reference.
▪ Decks tied down and high permeability debris netting to be removed for wind speeds
exceeding 30 m/s (100 km/h)

Provided that the abovementioned conditions are met, we can confirm that the design drawings are in
accordance with the following codes:

• AS/NZS 1170.0:2002 – “Structural design actions – General principles”


• AS/NZS 1170.1:2002 – “Structural design actions – Permanent, imposed and other actions”
• AS/NZS 1170.2:2011 – “Structural design actions – Wind actions”
• AS/NZS 1576.1:2019 – “Scaffolding – General Requirements”
• AS/NZS 4576:1995 – “Guidelines for scaffolding”

Such that we can issue this Certificate of Structural Design Adequacy.

This certificate does not relieve the supplier or contractor of the responsibility of ensuring equipment is in
good order and repair free of corrosion, meets the requirements of Australian standards and code of
practice, and follows all precautions necessary in carrying out the works safely.
