Metacognitive Reading Report 1 (MRR1)
1. What are the three (3) things that you significantly learned from reading?
 Before reading the article, I used to think that sex and gender are the same since
they were always being interchangeable. After reading the article, I now think that
sex and gender are distinct from one another and were deemed to be separate.
 Before reading the article, I used to think that gender results after determining the
sex of one person. After reading the article, I now think that gender is a matter of
consciousness that affects the body
 Before reading the article, I used to think that there is only a term called
transgender where people change their sex. After reading the article, I now think
that there is also a term called degendering which means changing gender
archetypes.

2. What three (3) things about the reading are unclear to you?
 The first thing that was unclear to me is the quotation mentioned in the text that
states “different gender, same sex or same gender, different text”.
 It was also unclear to me that was mentioned in the text was gender being a matter
of consciousness and the body being neutral with respect to that consciousness.
 The other thing that was unclear to me after reading the text is the clear difference
between gender and sex?

3. What three (3) questions that you want to ask about the reading?
 The first question I would like to ask is that, is it necessary for sex and gender to
be distinguished?
 Next question I want to ask is that, would distinguishing sex and gender help in
making gender equality real?
 The last question I am curious about is that is it possible for a man to have a little
bit of preponderance of femininity while being masculine and vice versa?
