CARBOHYDRATES

BY: NICO AND MIKA

1) WHAT ARE
CARBOHYDRATES?
Carbohydrates are a type of biomolecule.

2) WHAT ARE BIOMOLECULES?

Biomolecules are the molecules present in
every living organism. All biomolecules in our
body are in charge of the general maintenance
and the metabolic process.

3) THEY CAN BE FOUND IN...

Bread, Beans, Milk, Popcorn, Potatoes, Cookies,
Soft Drinks, Corn and Cherry Pie. They also
come in a variety of forms. The most common
and abundant forms are sugars, fibers, and
starches.

4) WHAT ARE
CARBOHYDRATES FOR?
Carbohydrates provide the body with
glucose which is converted to energy to
maintain the body and to be able to do
physical activities.

5) ARE CARBS GOOD OR

BAD?
There are two different types of carbs, simple and
complex. Simple carbs increase the blood sugar
levels fast, and have generally a worse effect on the
body, while complex carbs increase the blood sugar
levels slower and less dramatically, generally having
a better effect on the body.

6) STRUCTURE
The standard formula for carbohydrates is Cx(H2O)y,
they are massive macromolecules made up of
carbon (C), hydrogen (H), and oxygen (O). The
general formula for carbohydrates is Cx(H2O)y.
Carbohydrates are the hydrate of carbon. They have
the same ratio of hydrogen to oxygen as water.

7) CONCLUSION
To summarize, carbs are a biomolecule that

helps us generate energy and helps our

metabolic process work. Carbohydrates are

essential for all humans.
