Customize the unit

Swipe left or right to see other screens.

Touch and hold any app on the Home screen, and then drag the app around.

Drag an app to the edge of the screen to move it to a different Home screen.

Change the wallpaper


You can set an image or photo as wallpaper for the Home screen. You can choose
from the preset Live Wallpapers (dynamic) and Wallpapers (stills), or choose from
images or photos stored on a USB storage device or an SD memory card.

Change the wallpaper. Hold your finger on the main menu and then tap Wallpapers.

Adjust the screen brightness


Go to settings > Display > Brightness level, or tag the status bar, and then
drag the slider.

Automatic station searching

Touch the or sensor key to low or high frequency end station scanning.

Manual station searching

Keep touch the or sensor key for ca. 2 seconds to switch to manual station
searching mode.

Now using the or sensor key you can search for radio stations stepwise into
corresponding direction on the frequency scale.

After ca. 5 seconds of inactivity the unit switchs back to automatic station sear-
ching mode.

Alternatively, you can move the graphic frequency needle to the left or to the right
with your finger.

Automatic frequency scan

[Scan] Touch radio menu's sensor key can scanning stations automatically and
store the strongest signal stations on the screen.

[Intro] Hold sensor key, short-press to browse stored stations.

Store the found stations

There are 30 memory cells in total to store your favorite radio stations: P1-P18
within FM and P1-P12 for AM frequency band. To store the current station in one
of the memory cells hold the corresponding sensor key for a couple of seconds
pressed.

Switch AM/FM

Touch the or sensor key, can switch between AM1/AM2 or FM1/FM2/FM3.

LOC signal sensitivity

Touch the sensor key to switch between the local and distanced stations
mode. When the function is activated the radio searches only for the local stations
with the strong enough broadcasting signal. Otherwise the radio finds the more
distant stations as well.

AF funktion (Alternative Frequency)

The AF function switches automatically to alternative radio station as soon as you


leave the receiving area of the current station.

TA funktion (Traffic Announcement)

While this function is activated the unit switches automatically to the radio mode
for the current traffic announcement. After the announcement it switches back to
the initial mode.

PTY Funktion (Programme Type)

The Programme Type function allows to search for a station according to it's type
(e.g. music or education).

USB/SD mode
Plug a USB storage device or insert an SD memory card and then tap Music on the
Home screen to play music, tap Video to play video files, or tap Gallery to view
images and photos.

Touch on the desired file to start playback. The screen immediately changes to the

For safety reasons, video images cannot be viewed while your vehicle is in motion.
To view video images, stop in a safe place and apply the parking brake.

During the playback tip the touchscreen to display the control panel, menus and
additional information. After 5 seconds being not used the OSD disappears.

Press to hold or resume the playback. Touch the - sensor key to stop
playback.

Touch - sensor key can choose last song playing or touch - sensor key to
choose next song playing.

FF / Rewind

Put your finger on the cursor of the playback progress bar and scroll it to the
required time point.

Open the picture

Swipe your finger over the second menu page and press the icon to start the
gallery.

Display the options

Tip the touchscreen during the slide show. The OSD menu with the control panel
appears on the screen disappearing in 5 seconds after being not used.

Start Bluetooth mode

Press the - icon in the main menu.

Pairing the unit with an external device

Before the first usage of any Bluetooth function the unit should be connected via
Bluetooth with the device of your choice, e.g. your cell phone:

* In order to find out how to activate the Bluetooth function on your cellphone or
other device please read the corresponding manual.

B Search for a new device named CARKIT (this very unit).

C Select it to build a connection between your cellphone and the unit.


D If required enter the password "0000" and confirm the entry.
E Now the both are connected.

i Once you have connected via Bluetooth the unit with an external device of
your choice, the connection will be built automatically as soon as the device
appears in the receiving area of the unit.

The Bluetooth function should be "ON" both on the external device and on the
unit.

Common information

This unit contains a Bluetooth feature "hand-free phone call" which allows to make
your phone calls hand-free via integrated microphone and loudspeakers.

Make a call

Press - sensor key to switch to the numeric pad.

When phone and car unit connected successfully, input number buttons in touch
screen, and touch - sensor key to dial.

In dialing mode, if input wrong number, click - sensor key can delete number
one by one.

You can also find the required number on one of the protocol lists or in your tele-
phone book and tip it to dial the number.

Take a call

Press by an incoming call to take it.

End / reject the call

Press when the conversation is over or by an incoming call.

Phone book

To access the phone book press and Press to import the data from your
cell phone. The confirmation of share of the cell phone data can be required.

All the imported data remain stored in the unit's memory and are available even if
the connection between the unit and the source (cell phone) is interrupted.

Find the required name or number in the book and tip it to start the call .

Use the "search" option: press to display the keyboard. Tap the first letter of a
name via the keypad to search a phone number in your phone book quickly.

Phone protocol

Press to call up the lists.

There are three types of protocols: dialed numbers, incoming calls, missed calls:

- incoming calls

Bluetooth settings

You can change the Device Name of this unit. Tap CARKIT to enter a different
name.

You can change the PIN Number (Bluetooth pairing password). The default pass-
word is "0000". Enter another four-digit number and then tap Done to set a new
password.

You can turn AutoAnswer: / AutoConnect: - "ON" or - "OFF".

Bluetooth music

Common information

The "Bluetooth music" feature allows to play the music from the external device of
your choice (cellphone, smartphone, tablet PC) via car radio speakers. The device
should support the A2DP service.

Start Bluetooth music

Swipe your finger over the second menu page and press - icon. The Bluetooth
music interface appears on the screen.

Now load the playback program on the external device and start the playback.

- Touch icon can pause/play.

- Touch icon can play last song.

- Touch icon can play next song.

Wi-Fi setup

Turn Wi-Fi - "ON". Choose a network: Tap one of the listed networks and then
enter the password if required.

Drag the slider to adjust the screen brightness.

Choose from Small, Normal, Large and Huge.

Ampliefier (EQ and Fader setting)


The user can present a sound effect: Rock , Pop , Jazz , Classic , Flat , Voice or
manualy adjust the slider to set the value of sound effect: Custom .

Loudness
Touch the - sensor key to turn on or off of loudness.

Fader and Balance


Touch the - sensor key to enter the sound field mode page. The user can drag
the ball to adjust the sound output mode manually according to the position of the
vehicle. Or choose a setting from three presets: Driver , Front or Rear .

Navigation
Choose the application you want to use for the navigation.

Now touch the - icon on the main menu to open the navigation App.

Scroll down the Settings menu and tap System to see more settings.

Click "Languages & input " to access language setting interface, as shown in below:

Touch the GPS automatic update time and Automatic date & time to remove the

Touch the Set date and adjust the year, month and date.

Touch the Set time and adjust the hour and minutes.

Reset
Restore the factory settings. ALL data will be deleted from the internal memory of
the car radio.

Mirror Link
Tap Easy Connected on the apps menu screen to enter screen mirroring mode.
When you connect a mobile phone with compatible applications installed, you can
control the applications for the mobile phone directly from this unit.

i Please note this function is only applicable for the smart phones only
supports Android versions above 4.0.

Audio streaming requires a Bluetooth connection.

Android USB connect

On your Android smartphone or tablet: go to Settings > About Device , and then
tap Build number up to 7 times to enable Developer options.

Turn on USB debugging. A message "Allow USB debugging?" will pop up. Turn on
the Always allow from this computer option, and then tap OK.

To use MirrorLink feature, you need an "EasyConnection" app on your mobile


device. Install the "EasyConnection" app from the Google PlayStore and start the
software on your smartphone or tablet.

Slide to the second page in the main menu on the car radio.

Tap the - EasyConnection icon to launch the MirrorLink application.

Connect your Android smart phone to this unit via a USB cable.

iPhone WIFI connect

On your iPhone: Go to Settings > Personal Hotspot , and then turn Personal
Hotspot on.

Tap iPhone WiFi , and then select your iPhone name from the hotspot list. Enter the
password when prompted.

Tap AirPlay in the Control Center on your iPhone. Select EC-Mirror and turn
Mirroring on.

i On iPhone 4/4s, only photos can be streamed wireless to this unit.

On iPhone 5 and other later iPhone models, both music and photos can be
streamed wireless to this unit. Video streaming requires the appropriate Apple
cable or adapter.

Slide to the second page in the main menu on the car radio.

Tap the - EasyConnection icon to launch the MirrorLink application.

AUX-IN Modus

Common information

The AUX input allows you to connect an external device of your choice and play
the content stored there via AUX mode on unit's sound system. It could be an
MP4-Player, Smartphone, Cellphone, Tablet, Video-Player, DVB-T Receiver etc.

The AUX port has 3 regular channel: Video (yellow), Audio Left (white) and Audio

Start the AUX mode

Press the - icon on the screen.

If the device is a videoplayer it's picture appears on the unit's screen. Otherwise only
the audio signal will be transmitted.

Rear view camera (optional)

Common information

A rear view camera is an optional accessory. Please inform yourself by your local
specialist supplier about current models and their options and possibilities.

You can find compatible cameras on the homepage: www.carmediashop.de

All the cameras are equipped with video cinch output.

Rear view cameras are to be installed at the rear of the vehicle. They serve as
a parking assist element and an auxiliary extension of the viewing angle while
reversing.

! Please do not rely on the camera's picture only while reversing.

A rear view camera serves as an additional assistance, it can not substitude your
full attention driving.

Connection

The camera port R CAM is located on the rear side of the unit.

The green cinch jack is the terminal for the incoming video signal from the camera.
Plug the video cable of the camera into it.

The unit's BRAKE cable (pink color) as well as the camera itself has to be connected
with the rear lights of the vehicle (+12V) to ensure the correct functionality of the
camera mode.

The following advices are generally valid and refer to diverse XOMAX models with
the similar characteristics. Please note that some articles may refer not to your
model exactly and may contain the describtion of features and functions that your
model does not support.

We recommend you to substitude the existing antenna by the
larger and therefore more efficient one.

Shark fin or rod antennas (under 5 cm) are definitely insuffi-


cient.

Type 2 – active antenna:


The vehicle provides no current for the active antenna. In this
case a phantom power is required, which provides the active
antenna with the external power supply.

Type 3 – active antenna with diversity system:


The unit provides no current for the active antenna and has
no diversity support. For this type of antenna is required the
phantom power with an integrated diversity system.

Note:
A phantom power is not to be confused with an antenna
amplifier, which is far less efficient.

Please review the pin assignments of the ISO plug and ISO
socket. Pay attention to the proper connection of the ignition-
and steady plus and correct the discrepancy if required.

Note:
Though the design of ISO port is standardized, it's pin
assigment is not and may vary. Thus in case of mismatch
of connections due to different pin assignments a simple
plug'n'play connection may lead to grievous errors.
