Instructions:
Identify an organization that suffered major reputational damage. (For example, severe product or
service failure, created an environmental problem, or faced a scandal involving top management,
which made headlines in the newspapers and on social media). Investigate the impact the incident
had on the organization, and what the company did to recover. You may change the name of the
company to maintain confidentiality.

Part 1- The Assignment (70%):


Prepare a report to include:
 The company’s background including its mission, vision, and core values. (3 Marks)
 Details of the issue creating the reputational damage, and its impact on the organization,
employees, customers, and the community. ( 8 Marks)

 Write a literature review on a topic relevant to the issue (product failure, environmental damage,
corporate scandals, as the case may be). (10 Marks)
 Outline changes the company made to address the issue. (4 Marks)

 Recommendations you would make to ensure the issue does not recur. (5 Marks)
 Explain the challenges that may be associated with the recommendations – examine cost, structural
changes, training etc. which must be persuasive and relevant. (5 Marks)

o The report should be no more than ten (10) letter-sized pages, not including the cover
page and references.
o Use the APA format and referencing.
o Pages must be numbered sequentially.
o Include the ‘Participant Declaration to Prevent Plagiarism’ form in your submission.
o Documents should be upload in a PDF format on the Moodle Platform by 11:59 p.m. on the due date.

Part 2- Presentation Format (30%)


o Make a 10 minute PowerPoint presentation of your findings.
o Time includes a question and answer section
o Be clear in highlighting all the major issues identified in your report
o Remember, the PowerPoint should be clear, devoid of spelling errors, flow sequentially, and adhere to
the principles taught in the course. [Please see presentation score sheet below]
