NEW SPEAKING TEST FORMAT

- Candidate is highly encouraged to wear mask at all time.

- To get good marks – candidates are advised to speak clearly.

- Development of idea is important - do not offer idea without elaboration / explanation.

Don’t touch & go. (Both parts)

Part 1 (Individual)

- Preparation – 2 minutes.

- No reading time is given.

- Examiner will read out the situation. Candidates are not allowed to ask question.

- During 2 minutes Individual Presentation, other candidates MUST put down their pens /
pencils when one candidate is presenting.

- Avoid reading the notes.

*Remind candidates to stop writing when other candidates are presenting – they should know that
no extra time given after the 2 minutes preparation time is over.

Part 2 (Group)

- Preparation – 3 minutes

- Durations
 8 – 12 mins (4 candidates)
 6 – 10 mins (3 candidates)
 4 – 8 mins ( 2 candidates)

- Candidates can jot down notes while the discussion is ongoing.

- Maintain good eye contact with group members and show interest to the discussion.

- Candidates can use their own points, or even disregard given point if they want.

- Candidates need to know when to interrupt and not wait to be called. They have to show
interest and effort.

- Never say “That’s all from me, thank you,” in the middle of discussion.
