Performance Standard The learner is able to solve problems involving sequences, polynomials, and polynomial equations
in different disciplines through appropriate and accurate representations.

Construction of Earthquake Proof Towers

Goal: Construct a tower structure model that could withstand great forces brought upon by earthquake
Role: Civil Engineers/Architects
Audience: Public people
Situation: A lot of building structures like towers around the world get damaged when a strong earthquake
suddenly strikes therefore engineers and architects must ensure the durability of any building structures
Product: Earthquake proof structural tower framework/ model
Standards and Criteria for Success: The project/ output must showcase or apply students’ understanding of
arithmetic geometric sequences in relation to the actual measurements of the materials to be used as well
as their awareness on the concept of earthquake as a result of plate movement. Any available recycled
materials may be used in doing the task. The project is subjected to online presentation as well.
