CHAPTER VI
ACTION RESEARCH METHOD

A. Participants and/or other sources of information.

Respondents

The respondents of the study are the Senior High School students, particularly

the Grade 11 and Grade 12 students of Laboratory Science High School who were

officially enrolled in the school year 2022-2023. The total numbers of respondents are

30 students from Grade 11, and 29 students from Grade 12.

Research Setting

The study was conducted at Laboratory Science High School. The school is

situated inside Cavite State University - CCAT Campus in the same location that the

researchers were studying. Further, the researchers noticed the need to give

information and instill long-term knowledge for the students upon observation.

 Research Instruments
The study aims to discover the perspectives of the students with regards to Word

Wall in relation to their learning. The study used the following:

DepEd Order s2004, No. 50 that aims that all schools shall conduct teaching

methods, techniques, and strategies to strengthen the empowerment of education.

DepEd s2015, No. 44 that aims to expand and involve school teams and

personnel, community participation and involvement to make delivery of instruction and

educational information to the learners in a more effective, efficient, and responsive

manner through enhanced school planning and communication process such as

interventions and learning strategies.

Survey research is defined as "the collection of information from a sample of

individuals through their responses to questions" (Check & Schutt, 2013, p. 160). This

type of research allows for a variety of methods to recruit participants, collect data, and

utilize various methods of instrumentation.

Research Design

The study used a qualitative research design that aims to know the perspectives

of the respondents through a series of questions. Qualitative research involves

collecting and analyzing non-numerical data (e.g., text, video, or audio) to understand

In this study, the researchers observed the respondents in their actual classroom

set-up. The researchers noticed the need of retaining knowledge such as words and

their meaning. The researchers identified and selected supporting articles from

Department of Education (DepEd). The Word Wall was subject to innovation and

developed as a learning material to the students. The pilot testing included revision and

editing right after the utilization of Word Wall Activities. Furthermore, the researchers

collected insights from the students.

C. Data Analysis Plan

After the utilization of the word wall, the researchers interpreted and analyzed the

data. The following methods were used:

1. A thematic analysis lets us state the main topics or ideas that an interview or focus

group transcript turns out to be about. The respondents’ answers were thematically

analyzed and interpreted in a table.

2. The critical incident technique (CIT) is a research method in which the research

participant is asked to recall and describe a time when a behavior, action, or occurrence

impacted (either positively or negatively) a specified outcome (for example, the

accomplishment of a given task). The respondents were asked about their feedback on

the word wall activities.
