Environmental Sustainability

LETTER OF MOTIVATION

I was born in a countryside to a Farmer family, with lots of paddy fields, cattle and farmlands like coconut
tree, jackfruit, mango and many more. My childhood is filled with memories of me running around all this
and enjoying the nearest water bodies. I was carefree like how a child should be, but when I grow up, and
during one of my business trips to Mumbai, I saw children not in parks but in hospitals they were seeking
medical attention and suffering extreme pain due to diseases like hepatitis and typhoid, life threatening
infections that spread through contaminated water. Eventhough I had learned about cases of extreme
pollution and population I never had experienced any of its adverse effects up until that day nor did I ever felt
that much helpless before.

I always had a helping mentality and i love The Nature, may be it’s because the way I grow up, as such I do
everything to protect it. I still remember when I first learned about global warming I fought with my mother
when she burned the plastic or buried it, slowly I started doing things that my education or other platforms
suggested to do, to protect our Environment, however my encounter with those children on that day made me
realise what I must do in the future.

My education background is as follows, after completing my 10th grade with 80 % and Higher secondary in
Biology science with 72% I opted for Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering. My undergraduate program
provided me with the opportunity to further enrich my interests in engineering with a total of 65 courses
spanning 4 years. This helped me to study more broad and fundamental courses like Physics , Chemistry ,
Calculus, Differential equations, Linear algebra and complex analysis, Probability distributions,
Transforms and numerical methods ,Engineering mechanics , Sustainable engineering, Metallurgy and
materials engineering, Engineering graphics , Mechanics of solids , Mechanics of fluids ,
Thermodynamics , Advanced mechanics of solids, Advanced manufacturing technology , Thermal
engineering , Fluid machinery , Mechanics of machinery , Mechatronics. My course study was not
limited to just core subjects, I had also opted for Principles of management ,Environmental impact
assessment , Marketing management , Life skills , Business economics. During my college tenure, I
became proficient in Solidworks, Autocad, ANSYS workbench and further attended workshops on the same,
which aided me in my projects and kept me abreast with contemporary modernization.

In order to witness and learn the practical applications of the knowledge I have gained from the various
courses, I tried to utilize my semester breaks by doing intern-ships at some of the renowned manufacturing
plants. I completed an intern-ship at ROTOMAG CRI PUMPS , where I gained hands-on experience with
industrial forging techniques and was introduced to large-scale forging equipments, CNC milling machines ,
impeller welding , quality control and tolerance checking , these demonstrated how theoretical concepts are
transformed into pragmatic utilization. Consequently, my appetite to learn more and to procure distinctive
industrial exposure, I did an intern-ship at STAR PLASTICS were I was educated how the tiniest changes in
materials and manufacturing process can lead to extreme variations in cost , quality ,properties and
environment impact . During my time I learned how each process vary according to their purpose and
required properties .

I always had a strong desire to explore areas apart from my academic curriculum and so this eagerness took
me to an interesting topic of using ultrasound to enhance heat transfer. During my sixth semester I started
doing this project by collecting the research details and studying how acoustic cavitation and acoustic
streaming improves heat transfer . On the seventh semester I completed the project and wrote a paper on the
topic, which I later presented as a seminar on the same semester under the name "Heat Transfer
Enhancement Using Ultrasound" . Furthermore, my final year project was "Differential Wind Turbine" ,
a new idea to improve the efficiency of an wind turbine by using a secondary rotor to capture the wasted
wind energy from the primary rotor and combine both the rotor power using a differential . After much
calculation and evaluation we designed rotor blades, differential and structure, finally build our Differential
Wind Turbine and proved that using a secondary rotor and a differential to combine both rotor outputs we
can get about 42% of additional torque than a normal wind turbine hence more energy to produce electricity.

After completing my mechanical engineering degree with a grade of 6.73 (CGPA), I did one year
apprenticeship in a luxury car workshop called Dhananjay Car Care, where I applied my pre-learned car
mechanic on more luxury sports cars like Audi, BMW, Volvo and Mercedes-Benz . At the end of my
apprenticeship corona situation got worse and lockdown started.

Like many corona was really a tough time for us , along with the yearly flood in my state due to climate
changes, refugee camp and social distancing was a nightmare. I have been a philanthropist for a long time , it
started when I joined in scouts from my fifth standard where we had lots of community works and
volunteering works, after which I became a member of National Service Scheme and was involved in many
volunteering programmes for 7 years from higher secondary to fourth year of my Under Graduation , apart
from that i volunteer in rescue and aid during flood as well as in post flood rehabilitation . because of these
facts I was selected as a volunteer during corona and my duties was to supply goods and essentials to the
quarantined, along with this my other duties were to assist in the repair and maintenance of ambulance and
other equipments.

When corona situation started to get in control , I joined in DGENESIS LLP as a Mechanical Design
Engineer on October 2020, during my time I had under taken many projects like brain mapping headset , vein
positioning device, TEC and driver circuit for laser diode , EEG based lschemic stoke detection device ,
structure health monitoring system based on multi sensor data fusion and many more . my duties was
designing of the system and to carry out modification . During my time at DGENESIS I get to work with
many brilliant minds and innovators and had an opportunity to learn many aspects of modern world and its
negligence towards Environmental protection. with time my designing skills and team working experience
become really polished , and my critical thinking ability in different scenarios proved to be fruitful for the
company and my overall experience . On November 2022 I said fair well to them in order to pursue a higher
education where I can learn more about Environmental sustainability.

It was during one of my business trips for DEGENESIS I encountered those children and realised the crisis
of contaminated water bodies in big cities, that helplessness I felt that day made me wanted to solve issues
like this and to help create a environmentally sustainable future. At first I needed a solid background other
than the basic ones I have, this eventually got me in to the idea of doing a masters in this topic. The reason I
chose Germany is because, Germany is a developed country that solved most of it’s Environmental problem
that arised during industrialisation, The country's strong environmental framework makes it not only a
pioneer in environmental protection and sustainable development, but also constitutes a good example on
how a cleaner low-carbon economy is compatible with growth.

The masters in Environmental Sustainability offered by Bingen Technical University of

Applied Sciences is a course that I found after much efforts, the robust curriculum offered in this course
with the wide variety of electives like International Water and Waste Management, Climate Change and
Environmental Impacts, Climate Risk Assessment, Energy Utilisation of Renewable Resources,
Environmental Controlling, Mediterranean and Marine Ecology, Renewable Energies, Sustainable
Agriculture provides the perfect setting to not only nurture my resolve but also strengthen it with the
necessary technical knowledge required.

With my enthusiasm and resolve to wards Environmental protection combined with my Bachelor's degree in
Mechanical Engineering, I believe that I can contribute significantly to your next master's cohort. If given the
opportunity, I would arrive and continue to be an enthusiastic and incredibly engaged student in TH

BINGEN’S Masters program in Environmental Sustainability.
