This update may concern cobas c 111 instruments having the following serial numbers:
< 50483 (with ISE)
< 1591 (without ISE)
All cobas c 111 instruments having a higher serial number are already factory equipped with the larger
3.2L containers and do not require this update.

Summary
Requests were received from different affiliates asking for a larger type of water- and waste container
for the cobas c 111.
Such larger containers are now available. A fluid update kit has been prepared which includes all parts
needed to perform this retrofit.

Action
Install the fluid update kit where required. Proceed as follows:
1. Disconnect the water suction tube from the instrument. Remove the water suction assy from the
water container and put it aside.
2. Remove and empty the currently installed water and waste containers and put them aside.
3. Fill and install the new water container. Install the new, associated suction assembly.
Connect the water suction tube at the instrument
4. Install the new waste container. The existing waste discharge assembly must be reused.
Store the spare waste container at a suitable place.
5. Remove the cleaner suction assy from the cleaner bottle. Unscrew the black nipple at the end of the
suction pipe and install the new, grey nipple instead. This grey nipple is part of the update kit.
Reinstall the cleaner suction pipe
6. Go to <Utilities> <Maintenance> and select <Prime Fluid System>. Perform the prime function
twice.

Reasons of Change
The new, larger containers minimize the number of operator interventions regarding refilling /
emptying the external fluid containers.

Details
The new, larger containers fit into the existing fluid rack. Compared to the currently used 1.5 liter
containers the new types offer now a filling capacity of 3.2 liters. The belonging water suction assembly
includes also a modified type of holder water inlet filter which allows a convenient replacement of the
water filter.
The currently used black nipple installed at the end of the cleaner suction pipe should be replaced by
the grey nipple. The reason is that the grey nipple is more resistant against cleaner compared to the
black one.
