Brief description included 1108 - Fire chief conducted briefing of drill scenario before starting the drill. Fire alarm
timings made in Deck Log Book sounded and followed by public address announcement that “Fire in
Incinerator room”.
1110 - All crew mustered and accounted. No missing person reported. Bridge team
broadcasted urgency message ‘Pan Pan’ on the VHF radio to alert the other
vessel in the vicinity. Sent Inmarsat-C message to the nearest coast station.

1112 - Firefighters wore their SCBAs and Fireman's outfits. The technical team
disconnected the power supply and turned off the ventilation or dampers in the
Incinerator room. Boundary cooling was applied to adjacent spaces. A medical
team is on standby, complete with medical equipment and a stretcher. The
engine team manned the engine room and prepared the engine for
maneuvering.
1114 - FT2 entered the fire scene with BA pressures 300 bars both.
1115 - FT2 was inside the Incinerator room and reported that The cause of the fire
was burning rags. Due to unattended incinerator firing. FT2 tried to
extinguish the fire using fire hose (water).
1116 - FT12reported that the fire is extinguished and start to back out.
1117 - FT2 out from the fire scene with BA pressures 275/280 bars. Technical team
reported no signs of hotspot on deck 8.
1118 - FT1 entered the fire scene to check for any signs of re-ignition with BA
pressures 300/300 bars.
1119 - FT1 reported that the fire was totally extinguished and no any signs of re-
ignition. FT1 backed out the scene.
1120 - FT1 out from the fire scene with BA pressures 270/270 bars.
1125 - Drill ended and all equipment secured.

Effectiveness of procedures / Achieved goals (Attach VCM Checklist and/or other procedures tested)
The procedures were effective, and the goals were met in accordance with the Vessel Contingency Manual
(VCM) ship specific checklist for no. 14 Fire/Explosion.
Effectiveness/Performance of equipment. (Indicate also equipment tested)
SCBA sets, Fireman’s outfit and UHF radios of firefighters tested. Emergency fire pump tested. Fire hoses were
tested with pressure. All equipment used were in good working condition.
Personnel Performance
Realistic team performance, highly attentive and very passionate.
Effectiveness of scenario / General comments
The scenario was successful in that it enabled the team to become more familiar with their roles and
responsibilities in the event of a fire in a variety of settings.
Lessons Learnt
Reviewed the proper execution of entering doors, attacking the fire and laying fire hoses.
Corrective Actions Implemented:
Duties and responsibilities of crew reviewed especially the newly joined crew. Reviewed the proper execution of
entering doors, attacking the fire and laying fire hoses. Firefighters must check the equipment and
communication before entering the fire scene.
