RECORDS AND DESCRIPTION OF DRILLS FOR EMERGENCY

LOSS OF STEERING

Description & Procedure of Training:


At GPS fixed position Lat. 14° 36.9292’N, Long. 120° 55.5125 E , At 1000H, Master sounded the alarm and crew are
Mustered then instructed to proceed at the steering room to conduct steering casualty. The bridge station and steering
room communicates through by the handheld radio and intercom to initiate emergency steering test maneuver.

1000H – The Master sounded the General Alarm seven short blast followed by 1 long blast of the ships
Whistle, and announcement on the public address system for “ Loss of Steering” casualty.
1003H – Team members quickly proceed to the Muster Station for mustering and briefing, Chief officer
After head counting reported to the bridge station all accounted for and waiting for the order
from theBridge.
1005H - The Master sending Chief Officer and members to the steering room to check the communica
tion between the bridge and steering gear room. Assigned person tested and functions
Normally. The instructions followed and the orders that each crew proceed on their designa
ted duties to perform their tasks.
1020H – Engineers and electrician well simulate to trouble shoot cause of failure, Manual steering in
Port and starboard control and immediately relayed to the bridge and acknowledge.
1023 H – Chief Officer reported to the bridge station that tasks performed in accordingly which creates
knowledges and understanding on crews part.

1030H – Master with response acknowledges the report and sound the signal of three short blast and
Rings to dismiss from the drill.
