Aims:

Specific Aims:
By the end of this lesson, learners should be able to know the following:
The difference between the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors.
Classification of the various industries into primary, secondary and tertiary sectors.
The difference between formal and informal sectors.
The difference between public and private sectors.

The lesson will consist of the teacher teaching from the textbook, letting the learners
read and explain what they understood from the text, the teacher will further explain
what is being taught. A visual aid will be presented as a video, the learners will see
businesses in the different sectors, they are expected to know in which sector that
business falls and explain why they chose that sector. It will be interpersonal,
because the learners will be expected to verbally explain what they understood from
the text as individuals.

The teacher will observe whether the learners grasp the content or not by listening
to their questions and answers. They will also be expected to answer the following in
their workbooks, what is meant by primary, secondary and tertiary sectors?
Classification of the various industries into primary, secondary and tertiary sectors.
What is the difference between formal and informal sectors? What is the difference
between public and private sectors?

Classroom Management:
The teacher will ask the learners to keep quiet and ensure them that there will be
consequences if they are too loud, are not obedient or does not participate. The
consequence will be: the disobedient learners will read more from the textbook,
explain what they have read and answer random questions from the teacher.

Good morning class. You all know what a business is. Today, we will discuss the
different sectors, different business are categorized as. Ask the learners who has a
small business of their own, this will come in handy because they can relate more to
the lesson.

Development: 30min
In grade 9, EMS class, you heard of the primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors.
Draw a line, today’s date, heading “Business Sectors”, page 74 to 87 in your
textbooks.
(Discuss each point with the class, ask questions, answer questions, guide learners
to make the content relatable to their lives.)
When learners know the difference of the sectors, present the YouTube video of
different business and ask them to identify the corresponding sector.

The teacher should read each one’s answer to ensure they grasped the content.
Consolidation: 3min
The learners will receive an activity as homework, as well as a cross-word-puzzle to
test their knowledge.
Ask the learners if they are uncertain about anything related to the lesson and
homework.
Greet the learners and prepare for the next lesson.

How the teacher put meaning to the lesson:


It is important to relate a theoretical subject to learner’s real live experience, this way
they will be more engaging and will most probably remember what they have been
taught.
