1.0 SCOPE

This specification is for BNS fittings, including elbow, tee, reducer and cap. All the fittings
shall be matched with BNS piping material.

MSS SP-75 Governs dimensions, tolerances, ratings, testing, chemical and tensile
properties, manufacture and marking for BNS fittings. Only dimensional requirements for
NPS14 and smaller should be as per ASME B16.9.
Where a difference in Codes, Standards exists, the more stringent requirement shall
govern.

3.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENT


The mother pipe to manufacture the fittings with OD 508mm must meet the requirements
of HFY-PIP-SP-00009. (Technical specification for BNS seamless piping material)
The mother pipe to manufacture the fittings with OD≥508mm must meet the requirements
of HFY-PIP-SP-00011. (Technical specification for BNS SAWL piping material)
As a rule, all the finished products shall be subjected to heat treatment to relieve residual
stress.
Any forged steel fittings which have not been normalized or normalized and tempered
shall be rejected.

4.0 ENDS TYPE

Unless otherwise specified, the bevels at the weld ends shall be as per ASME B16.25.
Surface of the bevel shall be performed with lamination imperfection inspection using
magnetic particle according to ISO13664; imperfection that ≥6mm on circumferential
direction is not allowed.

5.0 REQUIREMENTS OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES

All the test samples shall be taken from the finished fittings which have carried out the
stress relief process.

5.1 Sampling Point

The sampling point of test samples shall be as per the following table 1, table 2 and figure
1, figure2, figure 3. When the mother pipe to manufacture the fittings is SAWL welded pipe,
all the mechanical tests shall add samples taken from the welded and heat affected zone.

5.2 Strength Limitations

All the components shall meet the following strength limitations:


Yield strength (Rt0.5) at ambient temperature shall be at the range 245~440 N/mm2;
Tensile strength (Rm) at ambient temperature shall be 415~760 N/mm2;
The value of Rt0.5/Rm shall be not greater than 0.88;
Rate of elongation shall be greater than 22.

5.3 Requirement of Impact Test

The sample shall be V-notch and the test temperature shall be 0 . ℃


For the full size test, the required minimum average (set of three test pieces) absorbed
energy values (transverse direction) shall be 40J.

The required Individual test values for any test piece shall be 75% of the required
minimum average (of a set of three test pieces) absorbed energy values.
If sub-size test pieces are used, the required minimum average (set of three test pieces)
absorbed energy values shall be the required values for full-size test pieces times the
ratio of the specified width of the sub-size test piece to the specified width of the full-size
test piece, with such derived values rounded to the nearest joule.

5.4 Drop-Weight Tear (DWT) Test

DWT test shall be performed when the outside diameter of the fittings is larger than
508mm. DWT test pieces shall be prepared in accordance with API RP 5L3. The test

temperature shall be -10 , and the samples shall be taken from the pipe body . For

each test (of a set of two test pieces), the average shear fracture area shall be 85%.

5.5 Hardness Limitation

Hardness test shall be carried out, and the maximum hardness at any position shall be
not higher than 220HV10.

5.6 Guided-Bend Test

The guided-bend test shall be performed in accordance with ASTM A370 or ISO 8491,
when the outside diameter of the fittings is larger than 508mm.
The test pieces shall not:
a. fracture completely
b. reveal any cracks or ruptures in the weld metal longer than 3.2mm, regardless of
depth, or
c. reveal any cracks or ruptures in the parent metal, HAZ or fusion line longer than
3.2mm or deeper than 12.5% of the specified wall thickness.

5.7 Hydrostatic Test

All seamless fittings shall be capable of withstanding a hydrostatic test-pressure. The


pressure and the time shall as specified in MSS-SP-75.
Welding fittings shall also be capable of withstanding a hydrostatic test pressure as
specified in MSS-SP-75, but hydrostatic testing by the manufacturer is not required.

6.0 ANTI-CORROSION PERFORMANCE TEST

Sulfide Stress Cracking (SSC) and Hydrogen Induced Cracking (HIC) test shall be
carried out according to the following requirements. The samples shall be taken from the
pipe body, the weld seam and the HAZ when the pipe is SAWL welded pipe.

6.1 Anti-HIC Test

Product certificate test shall be carried out to the first heat from the former 3 heat steels
and every 10 heats latter.
NACE TM0284-2003 shall be adopted.
Test solution: solution A. Test duration: 96 hours.
The average value of three sections of each test specimen shall not exceed the following
index.

Crack length rate CLR ≤15%,

Crack thickness rate (CTR ≤5%,
Crack sensitivity rate(CSR)≤2%.
The number and area of hydrogen blister on the surface of test specimen shall be
reported with macrograph or drawings of all cracks.

Photos or drawings of hydrogen blister on the surface of test piece shall be attached to
the test report.

6.2 Anti-SSC Test

Product certificate test shall be carried out to the first heat from the former 3 heat steels
and every 10 heats latter with the same heat treatment process.
Four-point bending test specimen shall be adopted as per ISO 7539-2 or ASTM G39 and
test be carried out according to NACE TM0177-2005.
Test solution: NACE TM0177 solution A. Stress to be loaded in the test: 90%SMYS
(specified minimum yield strength). Test duration: 720 hours.
Acceptance index: stretching plane of test specimen to be inspected by low power
microscope under 10 times magnifying, and shall have no cracking or breaking fracture.

6.3 Proof-test Frequency of HIC and SSC Test

a. Prototype fittings that are representative of production and selected for test shall be
identified as to material, grade, and lot, including heat treatment. They shall be
inspected for dimensional compliance to MSS SP-75 and ASME B16.9
b. A successful proof test on a prototype fitting selected as required in 6.3.a may be
used to qualify other fittings to the extent described herein 6.3.c ,6.3.d,6.3.e
c. One test fitting may be used to qualify fittings of similar designs that are no smaller
than one-half nor larger than two times the size of the test fittings.
d. The test of a non-reducing fitting qualifies reducing fittings that are of the same
pattern.
e. The untested fitting must have a t/D ratio not less than one-half nor more than three
times the t/D of the test fitting.

7.0 MANUFACTURING AND SUPERVISION

During the period of fittings manufacturing, purchaser is entitled to assign inspector to the
plant for fittings inspection and acceptance, and is entitled to reject fittings which fails to
meet requirements.
If necessary, representative assigned by purchaser shall perform spot-check for
production to guarantee consistency with standard and this agreement.
Manufacturer of fittings shall allow representative assigned by purchaser to perform
inspection and spot-check to test record and test specimen during the period of fittings
manufacturing.

8.0 TEMPORARY PROTECTIVE MEASURES

The outside surface of fittings is without any coating and lubricating. Fittings requiring
bevel machining shall be equipped with bevel protector. Fittings size shall be identified
piece by piece according to practical dimension.

9.0 STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION

Fittings shall be supported during stacking to avoid deformation. Supplier shall be


responsible for the protection of fittings during storage. Supplier shall be subject to
regulation of fittings storage specified by purchaser during bidding.
Fittings with different size and wall thickness shall be packaged separately.

10.0 DOCUMENTATION

Supplier shall submit relevant documents according to requirements of the standard.


Following documents shall be at least submitted to owner
Bidding stage
● Quality control plan
Experience of this product in similar sulfur-contained gas field (more than 2 years);
● Other technical documents
Supplier shall submit 5 copies of final documents when delivery, including:
● Factory hydrostatic test report;
● SSC, HIC test report;
● Result of hardness test;
● Result of DWT test;
● Result of tensile test;
● Result of impact test;
● Result of guided-bend test;
●Result of hydrostatic test
● Product quality certificate.
The certificate shall be available at the time when the fittings are ready for inspection.
All certificates shall be written in English language and be clearly legible.

11.0 OTHERS

After manufacture procedure is determined, the manufacturer shall provide fitting


samples in advance to the purchaser for weld process performance test.
