Scheme: Support to Farmers for “Small Scale Goat Farming” (10 + 1 Capacity) in
Individual Mode under OMBADC for the year 2020-21

AIM:
The aim of the project is to support 429 farmers for setting up of backyard goat units of
Ganjam or Bengal Breed with a capacity of 11 animals (10 Doe +1 Buck) per unit during year
2020-21.

SCHEME OBJECTIVE:
· Livelihood promotion and income generation support to the mining affected farmers
through small scale goat farming.

· To enhance productivity of goat.

· To support nutritional requirement of people through consumption of animal protein.

· To build the capacity of farmers undertaking Goat farming as a profitable mini-


enterprise.

· To create employment in rural areas particularly among the women/ SC/ ST.

· To improve the economic status of rural under privileged.

SCHEME OUTLAY & SUBSIDY:


· Unit cost of the scheme “Small Scale Goat farming” (10+1 capacity) under OMBADC
for the financial year (2020-21) is Rs.80,000.00.

· Back ended subsidy @ 100% through DBT mode.

ELIGIBILITY:
· Very poor households in the mining affected villages shall only be selected as
beneficiaries under this scheme.

· Priority will be given to SC / ST farmers to improve their livelihood.

· Odisha Mineral Bearing Area Development Corporation (OMBADC)
COST OF ONE GOAT UNIT:

FINANCAL ASSISTANCE THROUGH DBT:


· Phase-I: Rs.14,000/- towards construction of goat shed.

· Phase-II: Rs.36,000/- towards procurement of 6 nos. of goats (5 does + 1 buck),


utensil, medicine etc.

· Phase-III: Rs.25,800/- towards procurement of 5 nos. of does (CDVO to pay directly


Rs.4,200/- towards the insurance of animals)
SUPPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT:
· The goat unit will be managed by the individual farmers.

· The concerned Livestock Inspectors, Gomitras and PraniMitras will have to guide the
farmers in field for managing the Goat units.

· The local VAS/ AVAS/ BVO will guide the beneficiary in selection of quality animals.

· The BVO will provide all technical guidance to the beneficiaries for maintaining proper
veterinary healthcare and immunization of the goats.

· The CDVO/ BVO will facilitate undertaking insurance of the animals under the
scheme.

· Delivery of veterinary healthcare services by field functionaries through ongoing


healthcare schemes and MVU Schemes is also applicable for goat units under the
scheme.

· Identification Proof (Aadhaar Card)

· Land Document/ Lease Deed (Photocopy)

· Bank A/C No. with IFS Code for DBT (Photocopy)


PROCESS FOR PROVIDING SUBSIDY:
· Online application in the ServicePlus Portal
· BVO checks documents, upload photo and submit verification report to CDVO
· Approval by district CDVO and issue of Go-ahead
· Physical verification of the completion of Goat shed by Block Inspection Team (BIT)
· Release of first installment through DBT
· Physical verification of goat unit with 6 nos. of goats (5 does and 1 buck), utensils,
medicines, etc by Block Inspection Team (BIT)
· Release of second installment through DBT
· Physical verification of fully stocked goat unit (10 does + 1 buck) after procurement of
rest 5 number of does.
· Release of third installment through DBT

· Status can be tracked online in the ServicePlus Portal
· SMS alerts to be provided to beneficiaries
