The Course Outline for ESA/B/Q 410 is a critical resource for your studies, outlining course logistics
and attendance requirements. ESA/B/Q is a continuation of ES 110, ESA/B 210 and ESA/B/Q 310
respectively. Please ensure you read it as a priority, before beginning your study, as it has
information about contact details for the lecturer, assessment details, and required readings.

COURSE READINGS:
The Course Readings for this course will be available both electronically via your email addresses
and also from recommended text books from the Library, containing the readings referenced in this
Study Guide. Please ensure you keep up to date with the readings through the academic year.

APPROACHES TO TEACHING AND LEARNING


Teaching Mode: Flexible mode (face to face)
Lectures: 3 hrs per week
Consultation: open consultation 24/7 through email address given below and whatsapp
platform for the class. One-on-one consultation will also be made available during the week only
by appointment

There are 3 main modes of delivery in this course: lectures, workshops and one-on-one consultation:

The lectures are general and introduce theory. Lectures draw on a number of textbooks
and provide a wide range of contextual information. The lectures will explain the context
for Construction Technology and Building Services III (see topics listed below).
Materials to accompany the lectures will be made available via Email.
The one-on-one consultation will provide students with opportunities to have face to
face meetings with their lecturer and assignment group members, facilitated by the
lecturer who will discuss issues and share reflections using group discussion.

ASSESSMENT
General Assessment Information

Report: There will be 3 major assignments which will be a form of literature review (see
separate assignment descriptions, templates and CRA sheets). The papers will be marked using
criterion referenced assessment (CRA) to enable you to understand how your work can be
improved.

Class Tests:
Sessional Exam: The sessional exam will be objective questions, comprising content from
lectures, workshops and readings provided during the academic year. You will be assessed on
what you learn in this particular course. Attendance at lectures and workshop and doing the
readings is therefore required.

Feedback to students

Substance: You are encouraged to email or make appointments with the lecturer to discuss any
intellectual issues about course substance with the lecturer.
Process: Clarification about process or assignments should be asked after you have reviewed the
assignment templates, instructions and CRA sheets to be provided.

Academic Honesty

Academic honesty means that students are expected to exhibit honesty and act responsibly when
undertaking assessment. Any action or practice on his/her part which would defeat the purposes
of assessment is regarded as academic dishonesty. The penalties for academic dishonesty are
provided in the Student Progreesion Rule document.

Students will be provided with a number of required readings that will be accessible via the
