B. Motivation
 POSITIVE NEGATIVE!!!
 The teacher will give a seatwork to answer.

Direction: Solve and show your solutions.

1. 2x - 3x =
2. -5x + 8x =
3. 11x – 23x =
4. 26x - 8 -12x + 13 =
5. -23x + 2 -11x +6 + 30x – 6 =

C. Analysis
 The teacher will ask the following:
1. What have you notice to the signs in each number given?
2. Are they the same?
3. How do you solve each given?
 The teacher will help his/her student to understand the lesson about adding
and subtracting functions.
D. Abstract
Adding and Subtracting Functions

Many of the problems we will work in this lesson are problems you may already know how to
do. You will just need to get used to some new notation.

We will start with the operations of addition and subtraction.

NOTE: in order to further expand and understand the topic, the teacher will send the link for
more example related to the topic through email or group chat.

E. Application
Test I. Direction: Perform the given operations.
 (f + g) (x) = f(x) + g(x)
 (f – g) (x) = f(x) – g(x)

1. F(x) = 2x + 1
G(x) = 3x – 1

2. F(x) = -10x - 5
G(x) = 5x - 9

3. F(x) = 10x – 3
G(x) = 9x + 4

4. F(x) = 8x + 11
G(x) = x - 5
5. F(x) = 2(x + 1)
G(x) = 3(x -1)

IV. Evaluation:
Direction: Evaluate.
