From the Principal's Desk
The Pupil Handbook is meant to be a conduit between the school and the
home. We spend a lot of time, and adequate thought to every little detail that
goes into the planning – whether it's the prayer, or the rules; the activities or
the year's assessment schedule. We love to offer a pupil-friendly and family
conducive space in school.
Our belief is that pupils from homes that are well-adjusted and have a
balanced approach make a very good learner community. Is it not the
responsibility of the school then to create such a climate first?
The focus of the planning contained in these pages is to make learning fun and
blend seamlessly with the pursuit of academic excellence. I wish you all hours
and hours of fun learning at LWS Thane.

Guidelines for Parents
1. Parents are requested to see that pupils come to virtual/physical school regularly and
punctually and are dressed neatly in the prescribed uniform.
2. Pupils should bring the required texts and exercise books to virtual/physical school and
these should be properly maintained.
3. Pupils should do their homework regularly.
4. All circulars issued by the virtual/physical school should be read thoroughly and followed.
5. Pupils are strictly not allowed to bring expensive articles to virtual/physical school.
6. Parents are requested to submit applications for verification of Bonafide Certificate
etc. and other forms for signature seven days in advance.
7. The virtual/physical school strongly discourages private tuitions.
8. Parents are expected to attend all Parent-Teacher conference/Open House days as well
as other virtual/physical school functions to ensure that pupils are aware of parents
interest in their activity.
9. Parents must notify the virtual/physical school in writing in case of change of address
or telephone numbers, immediately.
10. Parents are strongly advised not to enter the classroom premises during normal
school hours.
11. In case of accidents and emergencies during physical school hours, casualties will be
taken to the nearest convenient hospital and parents will be informed as soon as possible.
Leave of Absence
1. Attendance on the re-opening day of the new academic year and the last working day
of the term is mandatory, and also the last working day before any vacation, and the
first day of reopening.
6
2. In case of illness involving absence of more than three days, the school should be
informed. No pupil will be allowed to resume classes without a letter and a medical
certificate.
3. Leave notes should be addressed to the Class Teacher giving a specific reason for not
attending school.
Pupil Discipline
1. The school gates will close 10 minutes before the school bell rings. All pupils
are expected to reach the school 10-15 minutes before the bell rings. Pupils who
reach school late, after the gates have closed will not be taken inside.
2. Tiffin/Lunch boxes have to be sent with the pupil in the morning itself. Parents are
requested not to send tiffin/lunch later in the day.
3. Parents are expected to help the pupil in arranging their bags well in advance, so that
there is a check on the weight of the school bag.
4. Pupils are expected to be in school well turned out and strictly in accordance with the
specified school uniform. Uniform must be fresh, clean and neatly ironed.
5. Pupils must record a minimum attendance of 85% and above for smooth progress to the
next class.
6. Pupils must show regularity in school work, whole-hearted participation in all school
related activities, and be ambassadors for the school in their housing societies and
outside school communities.
7. Pupils will not be allowed to attend school if they are suffering from cough, cold, fever,
any infections, or are recovering from measles/chicken pox etc. unless they have
recovered fully and the school is of the opinion that the pupils presence in class will not
cause any infection among the rest of the pupils.
8. Pupils are encouraged to use polite, civil and courteous language only. Use of bad and
profane language with fellow classmates or with a teacher or school staff will invite
strict disciplinary action, with the pupil being awarded Reflection Time Out/
expulsion in extreme cases where other pupils' safety and well-being is involved.
Escalations
1. Matters that need to be raised with the school, should first be brought to the notice of
the Class Teacher/ School Receptionist.
2. Unresolved matters can then be escalated to the respective coordinators. An
appointment to meet the Coordinator can be sought over the phone.
3. Parents may seek a telephonic appointment to meet the Principal, on any working day or
may walk-in during Meeting Hours in case they wish to bring a concern to the notice of
the Principal.
4. Parents are assured that every concern of theirs will be looked into.
5. Parents are urged to use courteous, polite and civil language with the school staff at all times.
6. Even while communicating with the Teacher in the Pupil Handbook, parents are
requested to use polite, and courteous language.
7
7. Use of inappropriate language with or behaviour towards school staff will invite severe
disciplinary action against the parent concerned, and in extreme cases, lead to expulsion
of the pupil.
8. Parents are requested to take recourse to the appropriate procedure to get their
concerns addressed in order to maintain a smooth and harmonious working
relationship between the school and the home.
9. Using any form of social media to air grievances or disagreements is not permitted. Once
again, this could invite severe disciplinary action against the parent concerned and
expulsion of the pupil from school.
10. Genuine concerns of parents can be redressed through conversations with the
teacher/coordinator or the Principal. Parents are invited to use dialogue as the medium
to resolve differences if any, with the school.

The LWS Community
Where We Were
The first step to moulding the 'Leaders of Tomorrow' is educa ng them with a world-class
educa on that empowers them.
This is the premise Lodha World School was founded on.
Under the aegis of the Sitaben Shah Memorial Trust, our journey towards academic
excellence began in June 2008 in the heart of Thane. We started with 24 eager learners – big
enough to kickstart an educa on movement with, small enough to be called family. While we
grew and explored unfamiliar paths over the years, we stuck to our roots – carrying along that
warmth and sense of belonging unique to Lodha World School.
Where We Are
We have come a long way from 2008. Today, the Lodha World School community boasts of
4 campuses and 3500+ pupils. We are affiliated to the ICSE, CBSE, SSC and ISC boards across
our schools.
With growth came diversity - reflected in our ever-growing community and in the ways we
adapted. Be it the syllabus, curriculum, or co-curricular ac vi es, each component is carefully
curated to meet the varying needs of our community in an equal and fulfilling manner.

2. Design Thinking
Going beyond conven on to find answers
At LWS, learning occurs in myriad ways. We encourage the implementa on of Design
Thinking – a methodology in which learning and crea vity intersect. Presented with a
real-world problem, our young leaders are given the opportunity to work together and
solve it. This collabora ve approach to learning sparks ideas, conversa ons, debates,
leading to a new and unconven onal solu on instead of the tried and tested.
Inculca ng life skills
It's not about being right or wrong.
It's about honing life skills like crea vity, cri cal thinking and problem solving – skills that
are integral for our leaders of tomorrow.
3. Environmental Consciousness
Protec ng and nurturing our environment
We aspire for a be er tomorrow in every aspect. When it comes to protec ng and
nurturing the environment, we strive to lead by example.
Green School Policy
Environmental Consciousness is not just another ini a ve; it is embedded throughout
our way of life. Every ac vity and event in our schools promotes environment-friendliness.
Green Drives
Cleanliness Campaigns

Eco events
Projects/Ini a ves beyond the school
Zero Plas c School
We aim to become a Zero Plas c School. We educate, inspire, and involve everyone in this cause.
4. Emo onal Wellness
Looking inward and reaching out
We train our young leaders for life beyond the classroom. Emo onal quo ent, therefore,
plays a strong part in all we do, along with intelligence quo ent.
Vipasyana
We are in touch with the inside.
Through the Vipasyana program, our children connect to their mind and soul.
Community Outreach
We are in touch with the outside. LWS gives back to the community. Our community
outreach programs allow our students a peek into another's world, encouraging them to
reach out and contribute in their own way. Serving others becomes second nature.
Shramadaan
We take nothing for granted. Shramadaan develops among our children a newfound
apprecia on for their belongings and resources – they learn to value and preserve them.

Little Things that Matter the Most
We learn by doing and reflecting on what we do. – John Dewey
Let’s join the dots and complete one shape at a time as and when instructed by your class
teacher. Use this shape completed by you to write the answer to the question asked by
your teacher.
1. Did you make someone feel that there is something special in them?
3. Did you make an effort to improve on something you are not good at?
4. Did you promise yourself to think only the best in yourself and others?
9. Were you as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own?
