PROJECT PROPOSAL FOR DEVELOPMENT AND UTILIZATION OF INSTRUCTIONAL

MATERIAL

VI. RATIONALE
Reading is one of the skills that has been most negatively impacted by the modular
learning delivery due to pandemic, and the bulk of the incoming students are poor readers.
Formal learning used to take place in the classroom, but since the pandemic devastated the
planet, formal education status has to stop. This proposal will help teacher by employing the
printed and video extra materials to provided learners with the proper skills they missed
during pandemic. This proposal aims to assist Grade 8 Teachers in enhancing their
students' abilities to recognize words, phonemes, meaning, and boost understanding.

VII. OBJECTIVES:
The proposed instructional material aims to:
1. Adhere to the DepEd Order No. 012, s 2020, which intends to assist the learners
in accessing to quality education despite the effect of Covid 19 Pandemic in the
Philippine Education System.
2. Create learning activities pursuant to the Budget of Work mandated by the
Department of Education.
3. Provide teachers a learning resource suited to the needs of the students in
English 8.
4. Assist the students in carrying out performance tasks

VIII. METHODOLOGIES
 Focus group discussion among English 8 teachers
 Reviewing various Related Literature and reference for Research.
 Drafting the material/Development of instructional video
 Consulting the content validator and editor.
 Disseminating the material
 Evaluation of the students’ written works and performance.
X. EXPECTED OUTPUT
 Instructional material (print and video) suitable to the needs of the teachers
and students in the new normal situation will be utilized
 The students will be guided thoroughly in understanding the topic
 Teachers will be equipped with various and related strategies in teaching the
lesson

Summary of the Results of Utilization

During the First Quarter of SY: 2022-2023, an instructional material entitled “Intervention
Materials in Reading (supplementary materials for student reading acceleration and non-
reader to reader progress) types of materials, printed and video presented material” was
utilized. It came in two forms, print and video format. The video format was uploaded in the
Youtube channel of the proponent.
The table below showed the pretest and the posttest results of the 14 sections in
Grade 8 on the two learning competencies covered by the lesson.

As shown in the table, a significant increase in the scores of the posttest against the
pretest was evident. This showed that students/ competencies improved using the instructional
material. Hence, the instructional material was effective and can help enhance the performance
of the students.
Meanwhile, the video material uploaded in the Youtube channel have already gained
4.9K views as of January 2021. Since Youtube is a public domain, it means that the video
was also being utilized by other teachers and students from all over the country.
