PART 2- Thoughts on Lessons in Chapter 8

All the lessons in chapter 8 are essential as far as child's literacy is concerned. Children

are exposed to sounds, music, and words from the moment they are born. As they grow, they

start to develop oral language skills while processing their environment. These lessons allow

children to learn through steps. Instead of introducing children to a list of words, children can

start learning by first focusing on the sound–letter pattern then reconstituting sounds and words.

Part 3-Article

After finding an article online that I have little knowledge of, I read it fluently. Even

though the content was foreign, I could read with speed and accuracy. However, it can also be

challenging to read something hard to comprehend fluently. The material can contain words that

are hard to read. Readers can find themselves pausing as they try to find the right way to read it.

Therefore the sound awkward and choppy; no speed and accuracy.

Part 4- Concepts

 Original Repeated Reading- this is an academic concept that aims at increasing reading

fluency. It involves reading short passages aloud until the reader achieves the right speed

and accuracy.

 Simultaneous repeated reading involves reading more than three times by using texts that

the reader has read before.

 Audio-Assisted Repeated Reading- this concept involves reading a text while listening to

the same from a recording or audio file.

 Partner Reading- in this strategy, two students come together and read a text.

 Fluency with Technology- in this concept, a reader can use audiobooks or text-to-speech

and hear the text read audibly.

 Reader’s Theater- this is a strategy used to develop reading fluency by combining reading

and performing. Children can achieve this by reading scripts aloud.
