1. Invitation:
Chess Association Kolhapur has the honour to invite all Chess Players from the State of
Maharashtra to participate in the MAHARASHTRA STATE SENIOR OPEN FIDE RATING
SELECTION CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2022.
2. Recognition:
The championship is held under the auspices of All India Chess Federation,
Maharashtra Chess Association & Kolhapur District Chess Association and is organized
by Chess Association Kolhapur and will serve as selection event for the National Senior
Championship.
3. Eligibility Criteria:
Only the players apt in to the following conditions are eligible to play the said chess
championship.
• All Players Registered with AICF with Maharashtra as their Affiliated Unit
• All entries should be strictly routed through the respective District Chess
Associations affiliated to MCA. No direct entries shall be entertained in any
circumstances.
• Each District Association is entitled to field 4 Players
• ‘Selected Player’ means the player selected from the respective District
Selection Events. Besides the above, the District Associations may enter an unlimited
number of players as a Donor Entry.
4. Selection of Maharashtra Team:
• Top 4 players will be selected to represent Maharashtra State in forthcoming
MPL National Senior Chess Championship 2022. Players participating in this
championship will only be allowed to participate in National Chess Championship.
• Participation in this championship is compulsory if any player wishes to take part
in national championship.

5. Registration & Entry fee:

• District Selected Player:Rs.800/-
• Donor Entry: Rs. 1,500/-

7. AICF Registration:
• All participants in the State Championship should be registered with AICF for
the year 2022-23. Online AICF Registration is available in the website www.aicf.in.
Those who have already obtained registration cards from AICF Website for 2021-
22may be asked to show the copy of the same. No entry will be accepted without AICF
Player’s Registration for 2021-22 and such player’s will not be paired.
• System of Play:
o Tournament will be played with 8 rounds Swiss system. The format may be
changed to emergency cases with the discretion of Chief Arbiter &
Tournament Director with Prior Approval from MCA & AICF
8. Tiebreaks:
• Latest tie breaks will be used:
o Buchholz Cut 1
o Buchholz
o SB
o Direct Encounter
o Greater number of wins (including forfeit)
 o Number of wins with black
9. Appeals:
• In case of any discrepancy regarding decision(s) of Chief Arbiter, the matter will
be handed over to Appeals Committee which will be formed during the Players’
meeting before the start of First Round.
