7. Instructions (if any):

Rules and Guidelines:

I. Attendance, Tardiness, and Absence

• Attending class is obligatory.

• Attending alone is not enough; participation in class is expected during
discussions and group exercises.
• If a student is absent, she must hand in her excuse within 7 days. It will not be
accepted after 7 days.
• If a student is absent, she is required to ask her classmates or instructor about
what was taken and if she has to submit any assignments before the next class.
• If a student is more than 30 minutes late to class, she will be recorded
absent for the whole lecture (3 hours) per CLT rules.
• Every 2 hours of unexcused absences = 1 mark lost from total grade.
• If a student cannot attend a lecture, she must email her homework assignment
BEFORE the lecture, then bring the hard copy to the instructor afterwards. If an
assignment is sent after the class, it will not be accepted.
• Final Exam Denial is calculated based on the hours of the lectures.
• Example: if you miss 1 lecture, it counts as 3 hours.
• After that, you will:

1. Receive a 1st warning if you are absent for two lectures.

2. Receive a 2nd warning if you are absent for three lectures.
3. Be denied entry to the final exam if your absence reaches four lectures.

II. Make-Ups:

• There are no make-ups for midterms or presentations unless you have a medical reason
for not being there and a note from a public hospital. If the department accepts it, you
will be examined on week 15 on the WHOLE curriculum. If you miss any midterm
without an excuse you will receive a zero grade.
• There are no make-ups for quizzes, even with a valid excuse.

III. Plagiarism/Cheating:

• Any plagiarized work will receive a ZERO grade and will be reported to the university
without notice. That includes copying the answers to homework assignments from
other students, or copying presentations from previous students.

‫البابطين‬
IV. In-Class Behavior:

• Mobile phones MUST be silent and away during the entire class.
• If a student uses her phone during the class without permission, she will be recorded
absent.

V. Emails and Blog:

• It is the student’s responsibility to check her e-mail and the course’s blog regularly.
• In all e-mails and messages to your instructors, please follow these guidelines:
o Include your full name, ID number, level and section.
o Use proper and polite greetings.
o Check your spelling and punctuation before sending your message.
o Write in English. Arabic messages will be ignored.
• If an e-mail/message does not follow these rules, it may not be answered.
• If a student sends an e-mail asking questions the night before the midterm/final, it may
not be answered.
• In other words, study and ask important questions early. Instructors can’t explain
lessons via email.
If you attend your lectures, study and practice regularly, you won’t have to remember these
rules.

I wish you the best of luck this semester!
