first Interim Certificate according to PWD Form 203A (Rev.1/2010).

QUESTION 2

a) During the second month of twelve months of defects liability period, a bad leakage was
discovered on the flat roof. The Architect issued an instruction and the Contractor
subsequently remedied the leakage. However, further leakage appeared in the seventh
month which caused the Architect to issue similar instruction to the Contractor. The
Contractor replied that he planned to repair the leakage at the end of the Defect Liability
Period. In the tenth month, the leakage became worst, but on further notification the
Contractor gave the same reply. Advise the Architect on the matter.

b) Explain five (5) importances of the Certificate of Practical Completion according to PAM
2018 Standard Form of Contract.

QUESTION 3

a) Elaborate five (5) events that empowers S.O to issue instructions under the PWD Form
203A (Rev.1/2010) Standard Form of Contract.

b) Based on Clause 25 in Conditions of Contract PWD Form 203A (Rev.1/2010), describe


the method for determining the rates for variation works.
(10 marks)

QUESTION 4

a) In a building contract, the contractor is usually required to take certain insurance policies
before starting any work on site. List down four (4) policies and describe their functions,
risks covered, validity and how this provision is provided in the tender document.
(20 marks)

b) State five (5) importances of the Final Certificate in relation to all purposes of the
contract according to the PAM 2018 Standard Form of Contract.
