II. NUMBER OF HOURS PER SEMESTER: 80 hours

III. SUBJECT DESCRIPTION:

The course introduces the learners to basic understanding of media and information as channels of
communication and tools for the development of individuals and societies. It also aims to develop students to be
creative and critical thinkers as well as responsible users and competent producers of media and information.

IV. SUBJECT OBJECTIVES:

1. The learner demonstrates understanding of media and information literacy (MIL) and MIL related
concepts.
2. The learner demonstrates understanding of different resources of media and information, their design
principle and elements, and selection criteria.

VIII. DISCUSSION OF THE INSTITUTION’S VISION-MISSION, GOALS & OBJECTIVES

VISION

The Sta. Lucia Academy envisions itself to be an educational institution anchored on Academic
Excellence, Moral Formation, and Community Engagement committed to developing holistic learners with 21 st
century skills.

MISSION

1. Provide quality education through effective instruction leading the learners to become critical thinkers,
communicators, collaborators and creators.
2. Develop the learners’ moral perspective inculcating the principles of pro-God, pro-man, and pro-nature.
3. Intensify community engagement through active cooperation with the national and local leadership in
their developmental goals.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

To carry out the school’s Vision and Mission, the administrators, faculty and staff, students, parents, and
the community in general and by invoking the aid of the Divine Providence are bound to live by the values of
Academic Excellence, Moral Formation, and Community Engagement and to work together for the attainment
of the following goals and objectives:

1. To prepare the students to become effective, efficient and responsible citizens of the community through
the implementation of a responsive curriculum.
2. To develop among the students and other members of the school community the feeling of friendship
and camaraderie to become good members of the community where they belong.
3. To give emphasis to curricular offerings and other related activities that enhance the total development
of society – spiritually, socially, economically, and ecologically.

IX. A. OBJECTIVES OF THE HUMSS (Humanities and Social Sciences) STRAND

The Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) Strand is geared towards the development of students’
cultural sensitivity and community engagement through the implementation of a responsive curriculum for
effective instruction in the humanities, the arts and the sciences. It also provides a venue for critical analyses of
the contemporary practices in the community to address the socio-cultural, political and economic trends and
developments making the students become effective social workers in the future.

B. OBJECTIVES OF STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) STRAND

The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Strand is geared towards the
development of science-oriented, mathematics-oriented and advanced technology-oriented learners through
innovative instructions, experiments, investigations and researches with the aid of the responsive curriculum for
the betterment of the whole community.

C. OBJECTIVES OF GAS (General Academic Strand) STRAND

The General Academic Strand is geared towards the development of students that cannot make up their
minds about which of the other Strands should they take in preparation for college. Students opting to choose
the General Academic Strand will be minimally prepared to enter higher education, thus GAS aims to provide
the students the core subjects given to other strands.
Through the General Academic Strand, the K to 12 curriculum has made provisions for these immature
students that have not yet thought seriously about their future.
The goal of GAS is to create a functional basic education system that will produce productive and
responsible students equipped with the essential competencies and skills for both life – long learning and
employment. The program will support
the basic education system to full functionality to fulfil the basic learning needs of student in line with the
basics of other strands.
It also goes into details such as doing performance appraisals, adopting effective rewards systems,
managing change and diversity, recognizing different management styles of Filipinos and non-Filipinos, and
starting a small-family business.

D. OBJECIVES OF ABM (Accountacy, Business and Management) STRAND


The Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) Strand is geared towards the development of the
learners to think logically and scientifically and are acquainted with the rudiments of accounting, business and
management conceptsand principles in order to prepare them to pursue college degrees that focus on
businessand industry where their contribution as future accountants, entrepreneurs, and business leaders are
vital to the progress and development of the economy and critical to the promotion of a sustainable green
business.
