While increased government investment in rural areas could help alleviate overpopulation in cities by attracting residents and improving quality of life, the author believes a multifaceted approach is needed. The government should also promote nationwide sex education to control population growth and increase affordable housing availability in cities to reduce overcrowding.

Some people believe that the government should invest more to the
countryside to solve overpopulation in major cities.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Nowadays, overpopulation in metropolises has concerned both the authorities and
residents. A number of people claim that public investment in the countryside should be increased as a way to deal with the problem. While I agree that the aforementioned intiative is a great method, I believe that other ways should also be considered and implemented. To begin with, it is crucial that the state invest more to the rural areas to resolve the overpopulation problem. Firstly, that investment can be used to attract a large number of people from major cities. Since many people choose to reside in developed cities for job opportunities and facilities, creating more jobs and improving the infrastructure with the help of financial support from the state will encourage people to move away from large cities. Secondly, investing in rural areas can help improve the quality of life for those living in the countryside, which can help reduce the pressure of overpopulation in cities. For example, when the transportation and housing system are improved, more people will be motivated to live in the countryside and only travel to cities to work for about 8 hours a day. However, I still believe that the government should also implement other policies simultaneously. First, they should promote sex education throughout the country. If the youngsters are aware of the danger of overpopulation and how to deal with that in a safe way, the population can be controlled on a national scale, thus reducing the number of inhabitants in major cities. Second, it is advisable that the availability of affordable housing in cities be increased. This method can effectively solve the overcrowded situation in those cities since people are no longer crammed in certain areas. In conclusion, while I accept that the state should provide more investment for the countryside, I still believe that other ways should be implemented to address the overpopulation in major cities.
