INTRODUCTION

Class Temperature is a measure of how hot or cold something is; specifically, a

measure of the average kinetic energy of the particles in an object, which is a type of energy
associated with motion. A Temperature Class is a term that is allocated within a hazardous area
or zone to instruments and equipment. The classification or rating signifies the levels of thermal
energy allowed in a particular area or produced by specific equipment.

Face-to-face courses have resumed in various areas of the Philippines,

particularly the province of Bulacan, after an extended period of online and distant learning due
to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, once schools reopen, it is critical to evaluate the impact
of many aspects that can affect students' learning experiences, such as classroom temperature.
The temperature of the classroom is an important environmental aspect that can affect students'
comfort, focus, and academic achievement. Despite its importance, research on the impact of
class temperature in the Philippines is insufficient, particularly in Carlos F. Gonzales High
School.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of classroom temperature

on students' learning outcomes during face-to-face classes at Carlos F. Gonzales High
School.Imagine trying to concentrate on learning when you’re overheating in a classroom that’s
too warm or shivering in one that’s too cold. Either temperature can make students and teachers
uncomfortable and make it more difficult to focus on schoolwork. For many schools, the more
common scenario is a classroom lacking adequate air conditioning (AC), making the beginning
and end of the school year uncomfortably hot in many cases. No one wants to feel uncomfortable
in their classroom, but does discomfort lead to an impact on what students can achieve? As we’ll
see, a classroom’s temperature can have a notable effect on students’ academic performance

1
Statement of the problem

Generally, this study aims to know the effect of class temperature during face to face classes.

1. How does perception of class temperature affect the learning environment at Carlos F
Gonzales High School?

2.How will you handle the class temperature in your room?

3.How does class temperature affect academic performance at Carlos F Gonzales High School?

2
Significance of the Study

This research is made with the aim to describe and explain the experiences of senior high school
students in Carlos F. Gonzales High School amidst the class temperature.

Specifically, this research will benefit the following:

Students
Students will be directly benefited from this research as its findings may help them in facing the
problems and situations in class temperature during face to face classes

Parents
Parents should know the experiences of their children and how their children affect the situation
in facing the class temperature during face to face classes

Teachers
This study will help the teachers to identify and help the senior high school students who are
struggling with the class temperature during face to face classes

Future Researchers
Future researchers will benefit from this study since they can gather some ideas and information
from this study. This will serve as a guide that can help future researchers in conducting their
research. In this study, they will also know how we adapt to different ways of facing the class
temperature during the face to face classes

3
Scope and Delimination of the Study

The research will focus on the impact of classroom temperature during face to face
classes at Carlos F. Gonzales High School. This study will consist of 15 participants which will
be asked to answer an interview questionnaire that is composed of open-ended questions. The
study will be limited to Carlos F. Gonzales High School Students. The research will be
conducted within ethical guidelines, and the participants' privacy and confidentiality will be
protected.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

The researchers of this study aims to determine the Impact of Class
Temperature during Face to Face Classes in Carlos F. Gonzales High School , Thus, this Review
of Related Literature focuses among the variables related to the study. These are the following;
(1) Class Temperature , (2) Students' Learning

Class Temperature

Classroom temperature is an important factor that can have a significant

impact on student comfort, concentration, and learning outcomes in the Philippines, where the
climate is tropical and humid. Research studies have shown that classroom temperature can
affect student performance and behavior, as well as teacher satisfaction and productivity. It was
found that the classroom temperature had a significant impact on the academic performance of
students. The study found that students performed better on standardized tests when the
classroom temperature was between 20 and 23°C, compared to when it was outside of this range,
In a study conducted by Haverinen-Shaughnessy et al. (2015). .A study by Dominguez and
Banaga (2018) examined the effect of classroom temperature on teacher job satisfaction and
found that teachers were more satisfied when the classroom temperature was within the
recommended range of 20-23°C, and found that students were more likely to engage in
disruptive behavior in classrooms with temperatures outside of the recommended range. A study
by Ocon and Baylon (2019) found that the majority of students in the Philippines preferred a
classroom temperature of 24-26°C, which is within the recommended range of 20-23°C for the
best academic performance, The study also discovered that students' comfort and ability to
concentrate were dramatically reduced in a classroom with a temperature above 30°C.On the
other hand, similar results were observed by Shibuya et al. (2017), who discovered that
temperatures in classrooms above 28 °C negatively impacted students' working memory,
reaction time, and visual and auditory attention. To summarize, while slight temperature increases
in the classroom may improve student performance, very high temperatures can affect mental
performance and learning.

Students' Learning
Students' learning outcomes have been found to be significantly impacted by
classroom temperature, with both high and low temperatures having a negative impact on student
performance.Haverinen-Shaughnessy et al. (2015) discovered that classroom temperature had a
significant effect on students' academic performance, with students performing better on
standardized tests when the temperature was within the suggested range of 20–23°C. Wyon et al.
(2013) discovered that classroom temperature had an impact on students' concentration and
motivation, with students being more attentive and motivated when the temperature was within
the suggested range.According to these research, keeping proper classroom temperatures can
encourage the best learning conditions for kids, which can improve cognitive and academic
achievements. Furthermore, it's critical to remember that classroom temperature might have an
impact on the efficiency of teaching techniques and procedures. In conclusion, while there are a
variety of elements that affect students' learning outcomes, classroom temperature is one that
shouldn't be disregarded. Keeping classroom temperatures within the advised range can aid in
creating the best possible learning environments for students, which can help to improve
academic performance, cognitive results, and participation in learning activities.
