Assessment 1 - HKACY1A
Mr Radebe is the manager of The Phoenix Public Relations Company. He has worked
hard to achieve his goals. Employees and clients all agree that Mr Radebe has the ability
to communicate with people across the board; from the gardener to the CEO of another
company. Very often it seems as if he is able to read people’s minds and knows what
they are feeling and thinking. Employees also feel special when they talk to him, because
he makes them feel as if they are the only people in the room. People also appreciate
the fact that he listens attentively.
Mr Radebe was asked to talk about 21st Century Life: Will Children Be Ready during a
meeting. He typed the short speech and then asked his personal assistant, Lerato
Mofokeng to organize the speech into proper paragraphs. He also asked her to then
summarise his speech in point form and paraphrase it into not more than five lines.

they care about. These attitudes are indeed 21 st century and reflect what scientists
understand about how our brains literally change as we learn and grow. It is advisable
that parents themselves become learners. Examples set by parents teach volumes.
They could point out, for example, how to enter new situations, set goals, and draw on
resources that help create and sustain positive change and learning. Were parents to
focus on these principles, 21st century children could grow up to be confident, well-
rounded individuals, empowered to learn and change as they need and desire and ready
to embrace or adapt to the inevitable waves of change the 21st century will bring.
