About Reddit
What should I do to
protect myself from…
This sounds like what i had when the doctor
discovered that i have asthma. Do you also
experience breathlessness? My doctor had
me breathing from a nebulizer for about 15
minutes and I felt much better so he
concluded that i had asthma, as my
symptoms were similar to yours.

The cough starts as a tickle in the

back of my throat then it progresses
into bronchospasms.

For me the feeling was more of having

something stuck at the back of my throat.

Also in my experience my persistent cough

was almost always triggered after a serious
bout of flu. There should be something that
triggers yours. Look out for it. If it is flu i'd
recommend getting a flu vaccine and
maybe a pneumococcal vaccine just to be
sure.

You’re on a good steroid, so I’m wondering

how much of a lung component is still
causing your problem. You say the Qvar
helps, but that you still have lingering
cough. I’d target your nose more directly.
Look into an allergist, and see if you can get
some nose sprays. Flonase is first line, and
is available OTC. Beyond that, adding
ipatropium bromide and azelastine sprays
help a lot, too. Rinse out your nasal
passages daily either with a high pressure
saline spray, or a nasal irrigation device.
You may want to consider a decongestant
such as Benzedrex, though check this past
your doc, and make sure it won’t give you
fast heart rate or high blood pressure.

Did you move to a new place or have any
