Subject/ Report about D & ND Bearing

Referring to the above subject, and after the completion of the

rehabilitation of Engine No 7, the D&ND generator bearings were opened,
inspected, cleaned and re-installed.

After running the engine, it was noticed that the temperature of the D
bearing had risen, as the engine was turned off and the bearings were
opened, and it was found in a very bad condition with scratches. After that,
the D&ND bearings were extracted and replaced with the bearings that
were on generator No. 2 ... where a re-alignment of the generator was
done after the height problems were completed Main bearing temperature

After that, the generator was operated for a period of about two weeks
until the new bearings and the new oil cooler arrived, where the engine
was turned off to install them. During the opening of the old D&ND
bearings installed on generator 7, it was noticed that there were scratches
on the underside of the bearings and also on the generator shaft, and this
problem or phenomenon has two reasons, namely

1. Alternator needs to be re-aligned.

2. The oil does not form a carrier layer for the shaft.
