INTRODUCTION
Majority of the work here in this department of the
defense logistics office is maintenance and repair of
trucks or lorry kind of vehicles.
As a disciple I (we) have completed several objectives
and tasks throughout the weeks.
We stared our session as a group of four to eight
students to work on a particular objective. And of course
to stay on that specific division of the firm for the rest of
the month! Or two
Each of the activities performed and reported in this
document were reactions due to some sort of problem
occurring to the vehicle.
Weekly reports are compiled to one monthly report and
abstract is written based on achievements and progress
over month.
So let’s get to it.
MONTH 1

WEEK ONE

Problem statement: The driver of the truck experienced difficulty to operate the brake
comfortably.

Proceeding consequences: Problem was readily identified without any accidents happening.

Probable cause: Oil leak at the rare tyre disk cylinder.

Recommended solution: Detach the tyre and of course change that broken cylinder.

Task 1: Finding a level surface that prevents the car from rolling and lifting the car up with a
service jack near the differential (around the center) in order to balance for both wheels. Then
we placed the metal supports incase the jacks flips, accident may occur.

Task 2: Loosening the nuts like ten of them from each took us a long time. It took us quite a lot
of force to apply. Actually at last, when tightening them up.

Task 3: So as expected the oil leak was from the cylinder and were changed with new ones.

Conclusion: Changing a tire is pretty simple task provided you are prepared and willing to exert
a little effort. But not this time it was a little challenging.
WEEK TWO

There wasn’t much to do this week.

We were just given explanations and elaborations about different parts of the truck engine
parts.

Several questions were asked and answered throughout the week.

Some of them are; brief explanation on how the engine works in general

Cooling systems (fan, radiator)

General working principle of the gearbox

Ignition systems and working methods

Injection systems

Conclusion: looks like we have theoretically covered a lot of these in class. Happy to see them
practically!
WEEK THREE

Problem statement: A truck crushed badly.

Probable cause: unknown

Proceeding consequences: Front part, engine part, chance and rare tyres were totally damaged
and out of use.

Recommended solution: Refurbish with all new materials to restore to a better working order
and appearance.

Task: by the end of this week getting ready for the new assembly we have disassembled and
separated those reusable parts and damaged ones.
WEEK FOUR

Task one: Using a 2 ton maximum capacity movable pulley we assembled the gearbox to its
appropriate place and fixed it to the chance.

Task two: we assembled the new differential and oiled it.

Task three: The two rare tyres were also congregated to that of the differential.

Conclusion: That was a lot of work to do for this week. Although we can say the vehicle is 29%
complete to leave the garage.
