2023 Club Championship and Flight Tournaments


Saturday, August 12th Saturday, August 19th
rain date Saturday August 26th

Qualifications: residents, members and associate members with an established and current
Greenbriar handicap for the front and back course. GWGA membership dues must be paid.

Format---two eighteen (18) hole rounds of stroke play, the first round played Saturday, Aug.
12th and the second round on Saturday Aug. 19th. If either round is canceled, the rain date is Saturday,
Aug. 26th . There will be separate tournaments for men and women.

Upon registering, indicate your name, phone, and if you need a cart, own a cart or walk. Our
August 1st handicap revision will be used to determine flights. The tournament committee will
assign players to each flight depending upon how many players there are and their handicaps. If
you want to play UP a flight you can. The committee must be notified asap.
Championship Flight Men and Women

Players assigned to this group will play two-eighteen hole rounds. Each hole must be com pleted
and all putts must be made. Any player not completing a hole or making the necessary putt will
be disqualified. The lowest total GROSS and the lowest total NET
at the completion of 36 holes will be the winners of this flight. If two or more players are tied at
the end of 36 holes,.....the players tied for GROSS, will return to hole # 10 and play sudden
death. (with no hndcp) and the players tied for NET will do the same but adjusted by
handicaps…………..then will continue to hole #11 and so on until one player remains.

“A” Flight Men and Women

The same 36 hole format as described above will be followed except that each player's score at
the end of each eighteen holes will be adjusted by the players handicap, thus a NET winner will be
determined. The player with the lowest net score will be declared the winner of the “A” flight.
If two or more winners are tied, they will play sudden death as described above. Playoff holes will
be adjusted by handicaps.

“B” Flight Women only The front nine holes will be played on each tournament date.
The score at the end of each nine (9) holes will be adjusted by handicap. If two or more players
are tied at the end of 18 holes, they will go immediately to hole #2 and playoff.repeatedly, until 1
player remains. (no handicap)

“B Flight Men only same format as in A Flight men

There is a $ 10 green fee to compete in this tournament.

Cart Fees are - $12 for 18 holes — and $7 for 9 holes. Payable on Friday before the
tournaments.

Presentation of Awards , to the Club Champions and net winners of all flights, will be held at our
Awards luncheon, October 18, 2023.

Players MUST Check-in at the golf shop at 8:00, breakfast, register, pick up prepared
scorecards, pay for carts if needed and listen to last minute instructions.
Shotgun is at 9 AM.
Note the hole your group is starting on and mark the scores in the appropriate box.

The actual number of strokes taken by each golfer will be recorded for each hole. All putts must
be made. Two scorecards should be kept - to confer with each other.

Scorecards are to be added up, attested, and handed in to the golf shop as soon as possible after
the round. Plan on staying around after the final round in case there are playoff holes to be
finished to determine the winner. Any rules questions shall be reported to the tournament
chairperson after the round for resolution, whose decision will be final.

USGA and Local rules apply

No gimmies. must putt out

Ties result in a play off on the 10th hole immediately after the round, scoring accordingly for
gross and net.

Official scorecard yellowed, choose scorer and attester before beginning round, to maintain
accuracy.

When finished round—add your scorecard, agree, and attest then hand into golf shop -asap

Winter rules apply - the ball may be moved 6 in. on the fairway only - no closer to the hole.

Tees Whites front —-- Red and Yellow tees will be together on the back . Round 1 in one
position and Round 2 in the other. Women use whites on the back where applicable……

Sand traps rake and place in any condition with no penalty, ball must be replaced in its
original spot

Provisional ball may be played at any time

Ball in woods …Lost or OB

a). can play ball in woods if found (with no penalty)

b) drop another ball on line of flight into woods with 2 club lengths out with
1 stroke penalty

Cart paths … free relief 1 club length - nearest point of relief

# 13 If a ball can`t be located in the rough or fairway – A free drop can be taken with its
location agreed upon by all players in the group.

#14 fence on right is OB drop 2 club lengths from where ball crossed OB (fence)
with 1 penalty stroke a. ball in leaves, play as is

b. lost ball in leaves….. see above “lost ball”

RIGHT SIDE OF #14 OFF THE FAIRWAY IS CONSIDERED ROUGH NO CART PATH ANYMORE

25 feet around all greens if ball is in a bare spot in rough,it may be placed onto the nearest
grass with in 6 INCHES..no closer to the hole with free relief

If a rule question arises, play 2 balls and record the score for each ball..The
committee will decide disputes after round, scorecards are signed and attested
when players agree. All committee decisions are final.
