Introduction
Ready Mix Concrete is a ready-to-use material which is a mixture of Cement, Sand, Aggregate
and Water. RMC is a type of Concrete which is mixed in a batching plant according to the
specification of the customer and delivered to the site by the use of transit mixer as it is away
from the construction site. RMC is a new concreting concept in the Indian Construction
industry introduced before one decade. It was initially not adopted by the contractors because
it is costly due to its large equipment’s and machineries and also due to high tax on RMC and
easy availability of manpower at cheaper rate but as time elapsed they understood that in large or
medium scale project it is cheaper as it requires less time, less manpower and high strength as
compared to Site mix concrete. So, ultimately it is time saving and cheaper. RMC is also eco -
friendly as it reduces the noise and air pollution because mixing is done in closed chamber as
compare to site mix concrete.

Revenue Streams in RMC Business

In RMC business we can generate revenue by

Assets Sales
 The Ready Mix Concrete is prepared with the basic ingredients of water, cement and
aggregates
 A revenue generating asset directly creates cash by receiving a particular cash flow that
can be directly added to a company’s revenue
 In our case we will Sell the Ready Mix Concrete mixture of different grades/design mix
depending on customer requirement
Leasing/Renting/Lending
 In this type, we will offer our machinery and equipment's on rental basis on defined terms

 The demand for concrete pump construction equipment is expected to increase
significantly over the next five to six years. Therefore we will offer a wide array of low-
cost and reliable concrete pumps to cater various needs in order to generate a good
revenue
 We will offer truck-mounted boom pumps, stationary pumps, specialized pumps and
scaffolding and other machinery.
 Of these categories, truck-mounted concrete pump demand is expected to grow most
significantly due to increased construction of residential projects and taller structures like
skyscrapers and multistory buildings in crowded areas.
Pricing Strategy
 We will keep the prices of our ready mix concrete below the average market rate by
keeping our overhead low.
 In addition, we will also offer special discounted rates to all our customers at regular

Terms and Conditions that impact costing
1. The Owner
2. The Hirer (Customer)

 The Customer shall provide a suitable area for washing off of the concrete pump and
associated equipment. The cleaning up of this area is the responsibility of the Hirer.
 Where the work is to be carried out from a public highway or street the hirer must
provide adequate surface protection and traffic management at the expense. Any damage
to surface and subsequent claims are at the Hirer's risk.
 The Hirer will be responsible for all the costs involved in recovering and subsequent
damage caused should the pump be unable to leave the site due to the ground conditions
or any other reasons outside the control of the owner or operator.

 The Hirer shall ensure that sufficient competent labour is made available to assist the
operator to prepare the pump for leaving the site of operations at the completion of
pumping.

 The Hirer will be responsible for the replacement cost of any ancillary equipment (pipes,
etc.) damaged or lost during the period of hire of the pump and equipment.
Resources

Inline Bins
Inert raw materials like fine & coarse aggregates are
stored in bins called as “INLINE BINS” where the trucks
carrying fine and coarse aggregate can dump the material
easily.

Silos
Cement & Fly ash are stored in an airtight container
called as “Silos”. The required quantity of cement & fly
ash is extracted by the silos.

Screw Conveyer Belt

Cement and Fly ash are fed to holding hopper with the help of
a screw conveyer. A heavy duty cement screw conveyor is
fixed in an inclined position to convey the cement from
Manual Feeding Hopper to Cement Hopper.
Transit mixers
Transit mixers are made to transport and mix concrete up to
the construction site. The discharge of concrete is done from
front or rear side of the Transit mixer

Concrete Pump (Mobile Pump)

A concrete pump is a machine used for transferring liquid

concrete by pumping. There are two types of concrete pumps.

Vibrator

A vibrator is a mechanical device to generate vibrations to

Screed
remove the air voids in Machine
concrete and for proper compaction of
concrete.
This is used to smooth out a concrete surface when it’s still
wet.

Wheelbarrow

A wheelbarrow is a staple at any construction site, especially

for operations that involve concrete. It makes transporting the
material quicker, and it is incredibly easy to use.
Floats

Another integral tool for finishing up a construction project

involving concrete is the float.

Vapor Barriers

After laying down concrete, it has to dry for the project to be

successfully completed. To make sure the concrete slab will
dry, contractors use vapor barriers.

Groove Cutters and Edger's

Often, projects demand that concrete slabs have grooves in

them to make further operations easier.

Groove cutters and edges are excellent tools for that job. The
powerful motor that moves them allows the blade or disc to
cut through damp concrete.

Concrete Tanks

Concrete tanks are a vital piece of equipment for any

construction operation that needs vast amounts of concrete.
Concrete Crushers
As you know, working with concrete also involves breaking
down concrete structures. For that task, contractors rely on
concrete crushers.

Concrete Conveyor

As the name suggests, a concrete conveyor is a type of

conveyor belt that carries concrete horizontally or vertically (in
limited distances). This type of conveyor is usually cheaper and
may reduce the need for cranes and other such equipment.

PRIMARY ACTIVITIES

Inbound logistics
 Raw materials used for concrete production are aggregate, cement, admixture, fly ash and
water
 All these material available locally
 We use own and hired vehicles to transport these raw materials
 The material storage system of RMC Plant is mainly composed of sand and stone material
storage ,Liquid storage and cement storage
 Sand and stone material storage is mainly used steel hopper ,the liquid storage is mainly in
water tanks and cement is stored in silos.

Operations
These are the stages which convert raw material into final product
 Labor and machines are used .The steps consists of
 Receiving facilities for aggregates make it possible for trucks to unload their goods directly
into hopper which feed to the product through a conveyor belt
 The cement is delivered by tanker trucks that unload their cargo in silos via pneumatic pipes
under compressed air pressure
 Admixture or additives are added at the time of manufacturing to obtain fluidity
 The mixture blend the cement ,sand gravel and additives supplied by PLC( Programmable
Logic Controller).A mixture must contain up to 3m^1
 The batch plant is equipped with PLC’s to automate production .They allow for better
selection with rigorous standard ,of a formulation adapted to the concrete ordered by client
and according to the dosage in water corresponding to the hygrometry of aggregates.
 The prepared RMC is transferred into transit mixture

Outbound logistics

 This includes all activities related to collect, store, and distribute rmc mixture to the customer
 After Production ,utmost care must be given to the quality of concrete during transportation
to the site in transit mixtures
 The mixers having a revolving drum with the axis inclined to the horizontal
 While transporting concrete mixture to a site, the mixer never stops revolving at a speed of
two to six rotations per minute

Challenges we faced
When delivering the product we should keep in mind the travel distance since the concrete
setting time is very much related to the time, so the distance between loading and pouring is very
much important .Large travel time may hamper the quality of concrete
As a tropical country weather is a considerable factor for transportation of ready mix
concrete .Mainly in summer season ready mix concrete should be transported with caution
