Multimeter

Hi, guys. Welcome back to my channel Ismaniar Lhokseumawe State Polytechnic. This is
my third video. Today I wanna describe an object. Everyone knows what it is. Yes, it is a
multimeter. There are two multimeters that is digital and analog multimeter. In this chance, I
just describe the function and the parts of analog multimeter.

A multimeter is a measuring device which is used to measure voltage, electrical circuit

and resistance in an electrical circuit. This device also is well-known with Ampere-volt meter. It
is made of plastic and the inside of its is made of copper coil. It is shape like a rectangle. It has a
length of 15,5 cm, a width of 10 cm and a thickness of 4 cm.

The multimeter is made up of the meter box/cover is the shell or body of the
multimeter that functions as a place for the components of the tool. Scale is a series of
numbers that show the results of a measurement. In a multimeter there are a lot of different
numbers, make sure the scale you read is the scale you want to measure. For example, volts,
ohms, and amperes have their own scale. The meter pointer serves as an indicator of the value
of the measurement results.Zero Adjusting Screw is used to adjust the position of the pointer
when calibrated by turning it left or right using a small flat screwdriver or a Minus screwdriver.
Zero Ohm Adjusting knob serves to adjust the scale pointer to the zero Ohm position. This is
used when calibrating a multimeter and is used when measuring resistance or resistance. The
positive pole hole serves as a place for the red positive pole test lead to enter. Selector switch is
used to select the measurement position and measurement limits. The analog multimeter has 4
measurement positions, namely AC Volts, DC volts, DC milliamperes and Ohms or resistance.
Negative pole hole serves as a place to enter the black negative pole test lead. The test lead is
negative, as the negative axis and is installed in the negative terminal of the multimeter. Test
lead Positive, as the positive axis and mounted on the positive terminal of the multimeter.
There are some colors of multimeter, but the color of multimeter I am describing now is blue
and white.

To know whether this device is good or not anymore, we can try to practice it. The
black test lead inserted into the negative pole hole and red test lead into the positive pole hole.
Then the both leads are connected and spin the selector switch. If the needle or pointer moves
from the left to the right, it means this device is good.

That’s all description about multimeter. Hopefully, this video is useful for you. See you
the next video. Bye bye.
