GYMNASIUM, ELEMENTARY & MIDDLE SCHOOL • SAINT-CYR-SUR-LOIRE, FRANCE

In the parc de montjoie, situated in the center of saint-cyr-sur-loire, there are 5 nursery classes,
8 elementary classes, an after-school facility, a catering unit, and a sports facility. These
facilities are designed for pupils and associations. Creating a building that integrates both
architecture and landscape, offering a feeling of visual coherence between the building and the
landscaped park. The horizontality of the layout is emphasized when viewed from the park
entrance by the massing. All around the building, there are covered areas and a sheltered
walkway formed by large roof overhangs.

The appearance and layout of the building are significantly influenced by greenery. Its presence
is known throughout as it forms an integral part of the design. Wood, concrete, and metal are
the materials used to express the spirit of the project. The metal exterior provides a modern
appearance that contrasts with the warm atmosphere of the light-colored wood interior.
Greenery punctuates the building's uninterrupted façades, which alternate between glass and
metal. The facade has a rhythmic feel as metal structural elements alternate with wooden
beams. It is possible to combine an elegant structure with a high degree of transparency by
using metal and glass, which subtly integrates the building into the landscape.

As you walk around the planted pathway, the heart of the building is gradually revealed by the
u-shaped layout, creating a sense of centrality. Facing the park, the two playgrounds are
wrapped around by the main building. Highlighting the entrances to the school, the north wing
of the building turns back on itself to form a sheltered forecourt. To optimize circulation and
facilitate connections, the sports facility is fully integrated with the school building at the point
where the planted pathway meets the school.

ARCHETYPE ARCHITECTURE DESIGNS SPORTS PAVILION FOR ACADEMIC

INSTITUTION IN THE PHILIPPINES JUXTAPOSING MODERN AND CLASSIC FEATURES

Archetype Architecture has designed a sports pavilion at the St. John's Institute North Point
Campus in Talisay City, located in the Western Visayas province of Negros Occidental. This
pavilion is the first of several new buildings to be constructed as part of a comprehensive
development master plan for the city. To create an iconic project that will anchor the city, the
architecture team incorporated a recurring theme that references the area's historical context
while defining its future. In order to preserve the school's rich history as an academic
institution, the team combined ultra-modern architecture with classic elements such as the
arch. These motifs and themes come together to form a cohesive expression of the future of
student life at the school. The pavilion's white facade and elegant curves point towards a bright
future, while its all-white design reflects the school's commitment to education and its Catholic
roots.

With a total floor area of 1,800 square meters, the Sports Pavilion is a crucial component of the
St. John's Institute North Point Campus master plan. While primarily designed for sports, its
retractable bleachers can be adjusted to create new event spaces. The pavilion can
accommodate up to 3,000 spectators for concerts and ball events, making it one of the
country's premier venues for sports and other events. Additionally, the adjacent Olympic-size
swimming pool further enhances the facility's versatility. The Sports Pavilion aspires to be an
iconic piece of architecture not only for the institution but for the entire province of Negros. It
is pure form and unique architecture aim to create a new landmark that is easily identifiable as
a distinctive and exceptional building. Like the Parthenon in Greece, the pavilion's simplicity
and purity of design create a timeless shape, with each arch presenting a repeating order that is
unified by a high window that runs seamlessly throughout the entire structure. All of these
elements come together to form a harmonious symphony of design.
