I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards: The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts, uses
and importance of Statistics, data collection/gathering and the
different forms of data representation, measures of central
tendency, measures of variability, and probability.
B. Performance Standards: The learner is able to collect and organize data systematically
and compute accurately measures of central tendency and
variability and apply these appropriately in data analysis and
interpretation in different fields.
C. Learning Competencies/ Objectives: The learner will be able to illustrate the measures of central
Write the LC code for each tendency (mean, median and mode) of a statistical data (M7s-
IVf-1) and calculates the measures of central tendency of
ungrouped data (M7SP-IVf-g-1).
a. define and illustrate mean, median and mode;
b. find the mean, median and mode of ungrouped data;
c. cite uses of mean, median and mode in real life situation.
VALUES INTEGRATION:
Appreciate working with group.

MEAN
It is commonly called average.
Its symbol is x (read as x bar )
The most popular among measures of central tendency
for it is widely used.
The sum of all numbers divided by how many numbers
are there in a set of data.
It is also affected by extreme values.
Formula:
x=
∑ xi
N
where:
x is the mean
x i arethe items∨values
∑ x i isthe ∑ of the values
N isthe total number of values ¿ the given data.
Example:
1. Find the mean of the given data set.
67, 89, 93, 77, 84

MODE
commonly called the frequently occurring value.
It’s symbol is ^x read as “x hat”.
The mode of a data set is the value that occurs with
most often in a set of data.
TYPES OF MODE
1. Unimodal – a set of data with one mode
2. Bimodal – a set of data with two modes
3. Trimodal – a set of data with three modes
4. Multimodal – a set of data with more than three modes.
Example:
No Mode
Raw Data: 10.3 4.9 8.9 11.7 6.3 7.7
Unimodal ( ^x = 8)
Raw Data: 1 5 8 2 8 7
G. Finding practical applications of Group 1: Cite one use of mean in real life through a song.
concepts and skills in daily living Group 2: Give one use of median in real life through a short
drama/conversation.
Group 3: Give one use of mode in real life through a poem.
