I. OBJECTIVES
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts, uses and importance of
A. Content Standards Statistics, data collection/gathering and the different forms of data representation,
measures of central tendency, measures of variability, and probability.
The learner is able to collect and organize data systematically and compute
B. Performance Standards accurately measures of central tendency and variability and apply these
appropriately in data analysis and interpretation in different fields.
Learners poses real-life problems that can be solved by Statistics. (M7SP-IVa-2)
C. Learning Competencies/ At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
Objectives 1. Define Statistics and terms related to it.
Write the LC code for
2. Classify data (a) in terms of its nature and (b) using the four levels of
each
measurement.
3. Identify real-life problems that can be solved by Statistics.

D. Discussing new A measure of Central Tendency is a single, central value that summarizes a set of
concepts and practicing numerical data.
new skills #1
Three Measures of Central Tendency of Ungrouped Data:
Mean =
∑x where:
N
x= all the data
N= total number of data
For example:
The five players of basketball team have the scores of 10,15,20,10, and 25.
What is mean of scores?
To find for the median, we need to arrange the data in ascending order (lowest to
highest) or descending order (highest to lowest).
Median = 15
85+87
Mean =

mean= 86
Mode- it is the value that occurs the most often in the data set.
To find the mode for a set of data just select the value that appears most often.
Always remember, if the given data set doesn’t have a mode, don’t write zero
mode just write no mode.
Mode= 80
Note: If there are two modes, it is called bimodal. If there are 3 modes, t is
called trimodal.

Group Activity: COLLECT ME!!
Direction: Ask the following questions and record the data with your groupmates.
You have 5 minutes to collect the data.
What is a mean?
Mean is the most commonly used measure of central tendency; it is the
average of all the data set.
What is a mode?
The mode is the measure or value which occurs most frequently in a set of data.
It is the value with greatest frequency.
Individual Activity:
Direction: Find the mean, median and mode of the following data given below.
Show your solution. (Activity Sheet)
1. 35, 54, 58, 61, 40, 38, 29, 34, 37, 22, 15, 38
2. 26, 32, 12, 18, 11, 18, 21, 12, 27, 20, 19
3. 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 8, 8, 9, 9, 10, 11, 12, 12, 13, 14, 15, 15
4.Your class recently took a test on the latest chapter in your book. Your teacher
writes the different scores on the whiteboard so you can see how your score
compares to others from your class. Your score is 79. How does your score compare
I. Evaluating learning to those of your classmates? Find the mean, median and mode with the following
set of data.
49 45 47 50 48 46 45 49 40 43 44 46 41 45
5. You decide to take an 11-day vacation to Seoul, South Korea. Since you are
interested in weather, you decide to keep track of the high temperature each day
while you are there. At the end of the trip, you look at your data. Find the mean,
median and mode of the following set of data.
89 85 87 80 88 86 85 89 80 83 84 86 81 85
b. Calculate for the mean value of the data using the table below.
SCORE FREQUENCY
95 -99 3
90- 94 2
85- 89 4
80- 84 2
75- 79 3
70- 74 3
