WHO’S THAT?

Time: 45 minutes

Materials:

● Toys and crafts: Puppet, rewarding system (Kani image, carrot images etc. or flexible)

General notes:

● Speed: For this level, speed is really important. Speed will be decided based on
student age, the younger the slower. Speed will also depend on the students’
characteristics.
● TPR: Using TPR is really important to motivate the student and using puppets,
flashcards as required will help to motivate the student.
● Pronunciation: For ESL student, correcting pronunciation is really important and
teachers should correct during the class.
● The teacher should appraise the student or correct positively frequently.
● If the student cannot answer, the teacher can mouth then say out loud to help.
● If the student cannot concentrate, the teacher can use TPR.

!!! Please make sure that the student tool mode is off during class. It should be granted
for students above 8 years old only when solving a quiz. For writing activities, please

ask the student to write on a sheet of paper or a board.

Evaluate the student performance after class (for teachers): Please spare five minutes to
fill in the performance evaluation for the student via Kynaforkids Teacher’s App. This is
compulsory in order to finish the class. Please be noticed that the form should be filled in for
each class within 24 hours.
TEACHING TECHNIQUES & TPR:

1. Teacher introduces himself or herself; ask for student's name


- Teacher introduces his/her name
- Teacher asks "What is your name?" and helps the student to reply.
- Teacher exposes the student to How are you?

2. Introduce about rewards system


- Switch to the whiteboard with the Kani image, teacher: "When you do a great job (point to the
student and thumb up), the rabbit gets a carrot.

Teacher says: Let's look at the photo and guess who is in the picture. T can point to each
person and ask students.

Let's watch

Teacher says: "Now, let's watch a video.!" When the student is watching, do not act anything to
avoid distraction. If the student cannot concentrate, the teacher can read along with the video
in order to make student focus on the screen.

Who’s that?

Teacher says: Ok, let's see who can remember what you see in the video
Teachers can ask S. It's ok if S cannot answer the whole sentence
1/ Who do you see in the photo? --> mum, dad, grandpa, sister, brother
2/ Who is the man in a brown shirt? --> dad.
3/ What is he doing? --> talking to the girl's grandpa.
4/ Who is the girl in pink dress? --> sister
5/ What is she doing? --> watching TV
6/ What is the girl doing? --> listening to the radio

Teacher circles each picture then says the word twice and asks the student to repeat.

Guessing game

Teacher says: "Now, let's play the guessing game. I will do the action. You guess the word."

Teacher makes an example with Kani, 'Kani, you start first. Look carefully." Teacher puts hand
on ear to demonstrate 'listen', then acts on Kani, "Ah, listen!" Teacher gives Kani high-five and
turns to student "Now, your turn. Look carefully."

Teacher puts to hand on eyes, making circles like goggles to demonstrate 'watch', then signals
student to answer. Teacher can mouth to help and asks student to repeat.

Similar to other actions.

Teacher says: "Now, your turn. 1, 2....and....", signals student to answer, then teacher gives
feedback and continue the line. Keep doing until no.5 and acts on Kani, "Yeah! I've got the
carrot. Thank you."
