LESSON: STAR 1A - LESSON 22 - MY DAY

Time: 25 minutes

Setting up the class:

- The teacher should log into the system via the link shared by Operations Executive 5 minutes before starting
time.
- The Operation team should:

+ Upload PDF file of lecture slide: ​STAR 1A - LESSON 22 - MY DAY


+ Open Youtube tabs for song at slide ​no.1,8,14​ and paste the Youtube link,
+ Open a whiteboard and upload Kani image, carrot images in order to reward Kani. Teachers can save
and upload directly from your computer

General notes:

- Speed: For this level, speaking speed is really important. Teachers should speak slower than usual. Speed will
be decided based on student’s age, the younger the slower. Speed will also depend on the students’ level.
- TPR: Using TPR is really important to motivate the student and using puppets, flashcards, as required, will help
motivate the student.
- Pronunciation: For ESL student, correcting pronunciation is really important and teachers should correct during
the class.
- The teacher should appraise the student or correct positively frequently.
- If the student cannot answer, the teacher can mouth then say out loud to help.
- If the student cannot concentrate, the teacher can use TPR or puppets.

!!! At level Star, students are ​NOT ​expected to be able to read or write. Please make sure that the student tool
mode is off during class. It should be granted for students ​who are really comfortable with the computer mouse
and only for the purpose of drawing lines and shapes from level Star 3.

Evaluate student performance after class (for teachers): ​ Please spare five minutes to fill in the performance
evaluation for the student via Kynaforkids Teacher’s App. This is ​compulsory​ ​in order to finish the class. Please be
noticed that the form should be filled in for each class within 24 hours.
Slide Time Teaching techniques & TPR

No.1 2 Teacher introduces himself/ herself and greets the student. Teacher should ask the student to
say: My name is..............(student name)

Now, let's sing a hello song:

and sing with the student. Teacher should encourage the student to do the actions.

Then teacher introduces Kani, rewarding system:

Teacher says: 'Today we will learn about ‘My day'.


No.2 2 Teacher : Now, let's review the previous lesson. Look! Kani is sleeping. Where is she now?
(Student: bedroom). Let's look inside her bedroom.

(Teacher points to each object and signals the student to say the word.)

Answer:

1.bed, 2.pillow, 3.blanket, 4.mirror, 5.lamp, 6.teddy bear


No.3 1 Teacher: Look at Kani! She's still sleeping. (circles the sun) Look at the sun. Hmm, let's wake
Kani up! Kani, wake up! (signals the student to repeat several times)
No.4 1 Teacher: Look! Kani wakes up. Now, let's learn some vocabulary. Listen and repeat (circles the
picture & uses gestures) wake up - wake up (then asks the student to repeat the word in
different ways, e.g say it loud, say it soft, say it fast, say it slow.)
No.5 1 Teacher: Listen and repeat (circles the picture & uses gestures) breakfast- breakfast (then asks
the student to repeat the word in different ways, e.g say it loud, say it soft, say it fast, say it
slow.)

Teacher: (does the action of eating) eat breakfast - eat breakfast (then asks the student to
repeat)

(If the student is advanced, teacher points to the food and asks: What's this? Answer: bread -
egg)
No.6 1 Teacher: Listen and repeat (circles the picture & uses gestures) go to school- go to school
(then asks the student to repeat the word in different ways, e.g say it loud, say it soft, say it
fast, say it slow.)

No. 7 2 Teacher: Now, let's look at me and guess the words. ( Teacher does some stretching to
demonstrate the action of waking up for the student to guess. Appraise the student if he/she
gives the correct answer, then ask him/ her to repeat it twice.

No.8 2 Teacher: Let's sing and dance together - My Busy Day

No.13 2 - Teacher: Let's learn the Alphabet. (circle the letter Uu) Do you remember this letter? This is
the letter Uu. (Say the letter twice then ask the student to repeat.)

- Teacher (underlines the letter U in each word): U is for umbrella ; U is for under ; U is for
umpire

Then teacher uses TPR, says each word again and asks the student to repeat and do the
action.
No.14 2 Teacher says: "It's time to say goodbye! Let's sing our song together!"
