Anappaapu Sambhar

Ingredients

For Frying & grinding


Dhaniya – 2 sp
Jeera – ½ sp
Pepper corns – 6 to 7
Red Chilies –6
Poppy Seeds – 1 ½ sp
Coconut – 3 tpsb scrapped
Onion – 1 Big Fire roasted
– 1 regular

Grind all the above into a paste by adding water as necessary.

Other Ingredients

Onion – 1 finely chopped


Curry Leaves
Garlic – 15 Pods
Tamarind – Lemon Size (soaked and juice extracted)
Anappaappu – ½ kg skinned
Salt

Method

In a pan add oil, Mustard, once spluttered, add curry leaves, garlic and fry.
Add Onion and fry until translucent
Add Anappappu.. Fry until the raw smell is removed
Add Ground paste and fry for a few minutes
Add Tamarind juice along with water. Ensure that all the ingredients are completely immersed in water.
Boil with lid closed until the beans are nicely cooked.
If thickened, add some more water and cook until beans is soft.
