Title: Lengthen Grade 7 pupils' attention

span
Rey Marth T. Moser
I. Context and Rationale Study Background

Young students of the digital age have a very short attention span, which is rapidly getting even
shorter. This poses a serious problem for the academic community of today. Due to their diversified
modern lifestyles, there is an urgent need for a non-traditional teaching and learning strategy.
Interactive in-class activities, as opposed to lectures alone, do draw some attention, but they cannot
always keep it. No less of a critical challenge is keeping pupils' focus and attention while they are
learning. It serves as the subject of this study. Working in small groups is interesting and enjoyable, but
when a work is a little challenging or complex, kids can easily get off topic. To prevent this, we are
introducing difficult components that include inherent competition into each cooperative activity and
exercise we plan in our classroom. This study must be able to successfully grab grade 7 students of
San Antonio National High School complete attention by taking advantage of their intense competitive
mentality. Our students are still having a good time while working cooperatively to complete tasks and
complete projects. As a result, and frequently without realizing it, students are learning fresh ideas
through actual examples. . Their comments offer a resoundingly affirmative assessment of the strategy
used. We must support our students in more diverse group activities that will help them to maintain
focus in the topic and increase their attention to the topic while having collaboration interaction to their
classmates. According to Oxford Dictionary, Attention is the notice taken of someone or something; the
regarding of someone or something as interesting or important, meaning that the students must give a
certain focused on the lecture while discussion and avoid the Distractions that can be detrimental to
the teacher and learners as well to have an effective learning process. In this study, researchers would
like to minimize the problem, providing Solutions, Group Activities techniques to help students attain a
long span of attention while in class discussion.

II. Action Research Question AR Questions

This research seeks to document how to maintain the attention by providing diverse activities to the
grade 7 students of San Antonio National High School during the school year 2022-2023, it seeks to
answer the following questions:

 What are the factors affecting them to transfer their attention to other things?

 Is there a significant relationship between Attention Span and Diverse Activities for grade 7
students ?

 What is the effect of giving them Diverse Activities;

III. Proposed Innovation, Intervention Strategy Describe Innovation/Intervention/Strategy

Numerous studies have found that motivated students do better academically and are happier are
students that more inclined to keep going in the face of problems or what can trigger to cause any
distraction and out of focus. Teachers must comprehend the reasons behind pupils' actions. In many
cases, the behavior enables students to get what they want or avoid getting what they don't want. It
also helps learners pay attention and listen more intently during discussions. Students were
collaborative and cooperative when they were fully engaged in the lesson. When exposed to active
learning in a suitable setting with a variety of learning activities, children learned more. The study also
examined how long kids could pay attention to writing and manipulative classroom exercises. When
provided tasks in the learning atmosphere rather than a regular classroom environment, the grade 7
showed longer attention spans having an collaborative activity that jan un-interactive discussion.

IV. Action Research Methods

 Participants/ Other sources of Data: This study will concentrate on how teachers can get
children in grade 7 to pay attention for long periods of time. The number of responders who
will receive the intervention is shown below.

 The Respondents of the Research is the Grade 7 Students Of San Antonio National High
School particularly the Section IVY.

 The findings of an observation revealed a notable difference in learners' attention span

between collaborative activities and a discussion that was only focused on learning; this
integration among those students had a favorable impact on learners' attention. The learning
process of the students was assisted by activities that will increase their focus and prevent
loss of it.

V.Action Research Work Plan (Summarize Action Research Work Plan)

Goal: By using cooperative learning activities, grade 7 students will develop lengthy attention spans.as
modifications to reduce disturbances at San Antonio National High School.

VI. Cost Estimate

The study was conducted by experimentation and observation.

VII. Plan for Dissemination and Utilization (Describe how the results will be shared)

With the school principal's full backing, the researcher hopes to use and distribute the findings through
already-established channels like:

 In-Service Instruction (INSET). Discussions of the use of research findings may be part of the
training plan.

 School Board of Directors (SGC). During planning and monitoring activities for schools, research
findings and suggested course of action might be provided.
