NAME: Kiesha Joy J. Tamayo SECTION: BSED ENG 3-1

ACTIVITY # 1 TOPIC: Special Education DATE SUBMITTED: August 29, 2023

LIMIT YOUR ANSWER TO 5 SENTENCES EACH PART.

A. DESCRIPTION OF THE TOPIC:

(1) Special education helps children with disability to achieve their greatest self-sufficiency
that they can achieve. (2) But compared to regular education, there are a lot of reasonable
differences in implementing it. (3) Knowing their capabilities and incapabilities helps us determine
how we can help them whether they have disabilities or are handicapped. (4) Which is why it is
important to observe certain factors at their early stage to determine their case especially if they are
at-risk. (5) One of the disabilities mentioned was Developmental Delay which is a mental or physical
impairment or can be a combination of both manifests around five years old to twenty-two years old.

B. REFLECTION

(1) Aside from differences, I also compared regular and special education and notice
somehow their similarities which is modifying the learning approach based on the child's needs like
how other parents decided to enroll their children to tutoring programs or private tutoring. (2) But we
cannot disregard the fact that special education is much comprehensive that requires patience,
empathy, and respect. (3) These does not just apply to the facilitators or teachers but also to people
around them that could be achieved by disseminating awareness. (4) This awareness can give
greater help for women who are planning to be a mother to be able to assess their willingness to
continue raising a child with special needs. (5) Just like how I answered my recitation from the last
discussion, I am not changing my mind yet toward aborting my fetus child with possibility to have a
disability due to personal awareness that I am not stable in every aspect of my life.
